It's not too late--we hope. If you are domiciled in Texas, or are an otherwise interested party, please contact your Texas Representative and tell them you support any action necessary to prevent the closure (set for 2/28/23) of Fairfield Lake State Park!

A quick web search of "Fairfield Lake State Park sale" will provide background. As of this morning, a bill has been introduced by a Texas Representative proposing further action by the Legislature to prevent the closure of the park and development of multi-million dollar (hey, Texas) homes on 5,000 acres of land surrounding the lake. It is somewhat complicated, but the bottom line for me is that Texas has very little public land with dramatically increasing demand for access to it. This is one of the finest parks in the Texas State Parks system (celebrating 100 years this year), with an abundance of quiet and wildlife year round in spite of easy access from major metro areas. (Awesome place to host, too.)

Anything you are willing/able to do to help is greatly appreciated!

Actually the State of Texas was 'leasing' the land and now the owner of the land intends to sell it to a private developer.

Texas Parks and Wildlife has 120 days to vacate.

Yes, the contract for sale to Todd Interests went hard on or around the 3rd. Negotiations between Vistra (the company that has leased the property to Texas Parks and Wildlife for 50 years) and Todd (the developer) with TXP&W are over. However, a bill has been introduced by a representative in the Texas Legislature seeking to invoke eminent domain. This editorial speaks to that: https://www.houstonchronicle.com/op...e/save-fairfield-lake-state-park-17788886.php
