Hello all,

Currently have a conversion van that I'm selling to actually pick up a class B. Likely in the mid to late 90's range. $10-$20k max budget.
My goal is to find a falcon, horizon, great west style camper van that has
1.) Dinette/bed in the back
2.) Overhead cab bed that pulls back
3.) toilet/shower combo that doesn't take up the isle

Where should I be searching? Craigslist is only regional and I'd need to search all of N.A. for this type of RV. RVTrader is good but limited quantity.
Any other known websites that carry good inventory? Google searches just tend to find info on these camper vans rather than useful for sale ads.

And if I do find something cross country i cant easily inspect, what are my options for having someone else inspect for me? (whether mechanic or prepurchase inspection service

Something like this

That sites great! thanks guys. Unfortunately it returned like 15 results out of 3500 mile range which is discouraging lol

It seems likely to me that your search criteria could be improved. What's your zip code?

The class B's I came across were either no overcab versions, had bathrooms in the rear versus the side, or were too old/expensive.

both good finds but both those models have the rear bathroom and sideways couch which is the common layout. I'm looking for the harder to find dinette in the back. You can tell by the windows in the very back sides if it has a dinette back there. the ones with bathrooms in the back only have windows in the middle sides of the unit.

I have never seen a class B (van sidewalls) with a cabover bed, but it is common in class c. (van, pickup or truck front with custom sides) It sounds like you are looking for a short class C.

Nonsense, I have one. Although I searched for roughly a year to find it.

Guitar fellow, I'll see what I can come up with later when I have my computer set up.

You said in the original post that you wanted to search all of North America....Up here in Canada, Craigslist is not a big thing, but Kijiji is........If you want to search all of Canada, go to this link...I put camper van in the search, but you can change that to whatever you like.....

That may be true wherever you are, but in Metro Vancouver Craigslist is the one to use.

No so.  I had a 1990 Chinook (E350) that had the extending cabover bed but the toilet and shower were in the back.

Hey skyl4rk, may I ask why you said 'too old'? Is it from taste, or is it from knowledge that these types of vehicles do not hold up mechanically? I ask because this is a perfect van for me...problem is I don't have the 6,000.00, I will only have about 3,500 at the end of this year. Have you seen these types of cabovers in the 3,500 price range sometimes?

Too old, too far away:

I think that 1st one is a great option, a little higher mileage than ideal is all. If you're not happy with those don't get discouraged, there are always more vans. Like I said I searched all up and down the East coast for a year for my van (I also did not want the toilet in back configuration) and I didn't find 10 cabover results the first morning I tried!

It was too old for the OPs search criteria.

With $3,500 to spend, I would be looking for a high top conversion or cargo van, and don't expect to find one in perfect condition.

You guys are awesome and thank you for helping. 95 would be the oldest id want to go really. Preferably less than 150k miles. closer to 50-100k is ideal for cost. West coast would be nice but can travel.

Appreciate the help!

I actually quite like that one. The more I look at it the more interesting it is. It's almost like mine except a little older and a little higher mileage, but it looks clean, and I prefer the layout (slightly different with the 2nd row of chairs/kitchen area before the dinette). If I didn't already have a van I would consider this one in spite of the mileage. Looks like it's slightly lower in the back area though.

Also, I found all those vans just by using searchtempest and a search string similar to the one described in my guide. I searched only a 750 mile radius from your zip code. I'm sure there are many more options searching further out... you said you're willing to go as far as the east coast, there are plenty more out there if you get the hang of that search tool.
