Hello everyone  My husband and I have just bought a nissan 2500 hightop van. We are going to sell the property we are living on in the northern California mts. We were originally planning to build a artist and martial arts retreat center.Life and taking care of my mom the last 15 yrs has kicked our butts. Just celebrated 40th anniversary and realize time for big change.  I started out leaving home in the 60's living out of my backpack and then in a big truck/van while going to school, desert, mts. I feel like I'm going full circle. This spring I dehydrated a bunch of food, put on my backpack and hiked 140 miles on the pacific crest trail. I got the name terminator limping along on 70 yr old knees. We are building the campervan trying to get as far as possible before winter slows us down.I built the beds while husband Tom put in fan and figured out solar, wiring and plumbing. We put in two windows on the back that I found on a horse trailer website. We wanted ventilation. Putting in side window today. Hope to meet you all in Quartzite in January.

Gotta love the PCT! I've done about half of it now in 3 different years. What section did you do?

How exciting!  Instead of a retreat center, you will go out and make "retreat" the center of your life.  That's awesome.

Keep up the good work!  Sounds like your rig will be ready to roll soon.

Welcome to this place and a belated happy anniversary to you!

Welcome aboard !
May all your trails be tall ones and all your problems be small ones !

He'llo Just figured out how to respond,Ithink, I started hiking at the Mexican border but sprained my ankle and had to stop for awhile after 60 miles. I started again at Chester, the half way point. The desert was too hot by then. I loved the desert and all the friendly people. I hiked around mt Lassen and then on the hat creek rim.I could see Mt Lassen and Mt Shasta at the same time. I only made it another 80 miles. Bad timing to do the rim during July heatwave and afraid to use enough water. People kept coming by saying that the water tank they put in this year was empty. When I got there they had just filled it. Made it to Burnt Mt guest ranch. Hope to start again in spring if knees agreeable. Which parts have you done?

Welcome, great to see you here and look forward to following your adventures:)
