Hi,
Been reading and gaining knowledge galore from what I have read, can't thank all of you, but THANKS!
The wife and I are just burned out on what we have began to call "norm life", we are going to break away from the leash and live free as others on here have already done, we are looking so forward to being free from the "norm life"
We picked up a 1995 Chev G20 shorty, one owner that was treated like a baby, 120k and history galore as to the maintenance done on it.
The last 5 yrs it just set being drove maybe 20mi a month. The tires looked new thread wise, but date code showed they were time to go, so new shoes installed, the spare mounted in the rear carrier was the spare that the van came with, he had it on the ground one time for 30mi
again, thread wise it looked new, but it as the others will become playground material lol
The interior is in immaculate condition, it had the standard rear bench that made to a bed and the captain chairs, the rear chairs and bench were removed and built a bed, it goes across and yes it is close for us but very doable, one thing I have learned is you lose comfort living in a van full-time, if you can't get a good nights rest then you will burn out quickly on the adventure.
I installed 200 watt solar on the roof, 2 12v 100 amp hr deep cycle AGM batteries, 12v led lighting
Still have a bit to go, will use the Whynter 45qt fridge, our last big thing to get.
As others have said, hard to part with THINGS, but we have learned that when you have THINGS you will always want more THINGS, so once we get on the road and don't have room for THINGS we will only have what we need to survive and live more free from the Norm
Again, THANK YOU ALL, we really thought we was weird wanting to live this way, but we are like many others.
Ron n Jackie
