Hi all,
I'm a Van dweller from europe (holland to be exact) and i'm currently in Spain (on the beautiful island of Ibiza). By finding the cheapRVliving website years ago and traveling trough Newzealand and Australia i came across lots of people and examples of this lifestyle and it sparkt my emagination to get into. After propper planning and pondering on the subject i sold my house end al of my un neccesarie belongings qiut my job and hit the road. I have been vandwelling for 6 months now and it's been verry nice.
Any europe van dwellers out there?

Welcome to the group eurotraveler! Isn't the proper name of Holland, "Nederland?" I was stationed in Belgium (Benelux) area for 2 1/2 years. That's a nice part of Europe. I was there when I had to carry Belgian francs & Dutch gilders.

Glad to have you with us Eurotraveler. I'm not in Europe but would like to welcome you and hope you can find some Europeans here...there are a couple I think....I can't remember who....
Bri

Welcome aboard!

Hi Eurotraveler, welcome to the forum. I know you have at least a few fellow europians here, a few aussies and a new zealand, i believe.

Thank you all for the warm welcome.
And Pikachu771, you are right the real name is Nederland or as often sayd 'The Netherlands' in English. I just always use Holland because somehow more people seem to know what country i am talking about. Holland is actualy an area in The Nederlands just like Brabant, Zeeland and Groningen and many more.
Strange howe that work hey, but we Dutchies are not bothered. What's in a name right. Dutch Gilder haha, i stil like that name, Funny thing i just bought an secondhand lonelyplanet from 1997 and it stil talks about Spannish peseta's. Not my best purches but it will have to do.

Welcome
I've been to Amsterdam twice & really enjoyed the country.
also been to Ibeza twice-fun time there too,
I wish you the very Best
.Sparky1 in southern Virginia.

Hi Eurotraveler...say, what is your avatar a photo of...my computer shows it so small I can't tell.....can you put it on a post?
Thx,
Bri

Greetings Euro! I hope you'll post more about your travels here in the coming months. I'd really like to hear about what the challanges are like in different countries with respects to van dwelling and/or boondocking in general.

Hi Bri, sure no problem here it is. it's me being uphoric about taking the lawnmower i just fixed for a testdrive. I was voluntering at a buddhistcentre in The Netherlands.
And to answer to the wish of sl1966: this is how i get around. i do volunteer work for free food and accomedation. I try finding inspiring places like buddhist centres, organic farms, yogaretreatcentres and the like. I use different websites to get into contact with these places or i justdrive up and ask face to face.
The websites i use are:
1. http://www.buddhanet.net/ for a worldwide listing of all buddhist centres.
2. http://www.workaway.info/, http://www.helpx.net/ and http://www.wwoof.org/ for all others.
It works out to working 5 hours a day for 5 days a week and sharing culture and good times.
I'ts a cheap and lovely way to travel and realy get to know a culture instead of just dooing the tourist thing (which i enjoy to). And most times some extra payd jobs role out as soon as people around find out i'm a carmechanic and pretty handy with all kinds of stuff.

I amcurrently on a organic farm from an Italian familie and next week i move to a yoga retreatcentre.
I just finished building a chickencoop and fixing up the 33 year old Vespa of the owner.

Thanks Eurotraveler...and good idea on the lifestyle....sounds like it is perfect for a vandweller...Enjoy
Bri

Hello, Euro! Great to have you here. I wish I could visit your portion of the world... Only been to the UK so far.

What little I traveled in Europe was refreshing. The people were laid back, friendly, and enjoyed family and leisure time. The US is far behind in that regard. Many of us think prosperity is found in the mortgage, the twelfth cup of Starbucks coffee, the drive-up window at McDonalds, and going to the third job... and then buying a bigger TV than the neighbor has.

Less really IS more... I guess it is because you learn to be happy and count the blessings. Anything else is madness.

It sounds like you found happiness. Happy travels! I wish I was there!

Brad aka "VanTrekker"
