I am a newly retired school teacher and current owner of a shuttle bus. My respectful greetings to everyone here. I greatly admire van dwellers and other constructive dropouts. I have been struggling with the many problems in my life that, at least so far this year, are preventing me from becoming part of your world. Right now, a lot of my problems would evaporate if I could sell or trade my bus. I planned to fix it up as a camper but some unexpected difficulties drained my funds and now the bus just sits in a lot costing me rent I can't afford. It's been frustrating. I have spent two years daydreaming about life on the road, dreaming of hot springs, camping and visiting my friends who live in various places in No.America. I am an old hippie. Back in the day, I lived in a VW van with my boyfriend for about two years. We drove to a lot of places, stayed in several cities, never had any serious trouble. I really look forward to reading posts here and communicating with you guys. I do have one problem with this, though, and that is that I have a very shaky Internet connection that comes and goes and is at its best at around 3 AM (it's free). I often have to resort to my android phone to post as I am doing now. Thank you for reading my post. My best wishes to everyone here.

From another old chick [not yet approaching 70], I strongly encourage you to follow your dream. Hope we meet on the road some time!

Welcome! That depends. Are you healthy? Have a driver license? If so, then go for it! I'm also in Northern California. My van will become a future bug-out vehicle when the next monstrous earthquake happens and/or if the state of California drifts off into the great Pacific ocean, haha!

A warm welcome 2u lauriejane!

I would encourage u 2 go for ur dream, tho not knowing ur circumstances makes that a bit problematic. Here's hoping for the best for u!

Welcome, lauriejane! I'm also an old hippie chick, though I never got a chance to live and travel in a van. I'm planning to rectify that when I've saved up enough to buy one in a few months. Sure wish I could take that shuttle bus off your hands, but the budget is too tight. Wishing you the best in solving that problem so you can get on the road asap.

hi lauriejane - welcome.

I have best wishes for you as well, and hope that soon some of those problems can be lifted and you get to live the freedom you desire. It is difficult to want so badly to live a certain way, but by necessity to have to take a different course. Praying for you!

It's probably good to let THIS community know that there is an available shuttle van just sitting there... waiting to be loved and cared for and turned into a majestic travel worthy home on wheels... I hope that there are more than a few who would be interested.

(sorry, I gotta stick with a low roof version for now )
