Hello Good People,
I have enjoyed Bob's YouTube clips for over a year now. It has given me the urge to re-visit the wonderful US of A. I visited Chicago in 1979, and worked in New York in 1985 & 86.  I am heading towards my 54th birthday and I am considering an extended trip by RV or van conversion. I am just wondering is it possible to get an extended Holiday Visa beyond 90 days??? If so,then I would look at buying a rig, otherwise, I might as well rent.   I am looking forward to exploring this Forum and getting to know some of the hardcore nomads
on here.

Any thoughts or suggestions will be very much appreciated.

Safe travels Y'all,

Conor B

Hi and welcome. I'm no expert but I believe you can get a six-month travel visa. Check with the American consulate nearest you but I'm pretty sure you can.

Thanks for the prompt response Bob.

That would be fantastic. I have already nipped onto the Items for Sale Forum on here as  ideally if I buy a rig for my proposed travels, I would like to buy it of a genuine seller on here and supporter of your efforts. I hope to make it to the RTR next year, all going well.

Continued success, sir.

Conor

Lots of good Craic here!
Tis grand boy, as they say in County Cork. ;). Welcome.
Lots of foreign visitors fixing up vans and going Rock climbing on YouTube, instagram for ideas.

Hi Conor B,

nice to meet you :)

I too live in Europe, and am considering testing this lifestyle, by visiting the US of A, and possibly renting or buying a rig.

So, if you don't mind, I will be tagging along, to hear about your discoveries of how to possibly do a visiting trip to the wandering lifestyle.

I spent 8 months roaming around Ireland back in 1997.

It was not using a caravan but doing Bed and Breakfast all across the country. A caravan would be a great way to go! Did you check out doing this locally?

Other thing I know from all my German and Irish friends....they all come here and greatly underestimate the size of USA. If you do come here..consider flying to the General area you want to spend most time....save a LOT of driving as apposed to landing at JFK and driving 2000+ miles to Denver!

There was a lady from Denmark who did exactly what you are planning. I cannot remember her name here (hope someone can supply it). You should PM her, she has a wealth of info!

I remember the lady from Denmark. In this video she is called Maxine.

For a six month stay I would buy a van and list it for sale a couple weeks before you return, I did this in France at the American Express office, almost broke even. Welcome by the way.
