Hello everyone, I'm Jonathan, I've been a part time vandweller for about 6 years now in an attempt to gain enough knowledge and experience to go full time. I have used several different kinds of vehicles and have found a cargo van suits me best and wouldn't you know I was able to pick up this gem. 1986 Ford E150 converted by Superior Conversion in Louisville, Ky. Bought from the original owner with 79k miles. She needs a bit of love but it's definitely a great starting platform. One concern I do have though, is the flashiness of the paint scheme.

Anyway, any advice, cool stories, general comments? I am all ears.

Welcome Jonathan. Looks like a great platform to start a new adventure in! I would say unless you have dough to blow, a paint job on that beast wouldn't be cheap. You better off spending your money on other upgrades.

Thanks for the reassurance guys. Attracting unwanted attention is among my biggest fears in choosing this lifestyle and this van just doesn't always 'blend in' with other vehicles.

Welcome Jonathan! I agree with Coast to Coast - it's a nice, clean van that looks completely harmless. There have been several instances lately where people have attracted attention because their vans were plain white, windowless cargo vans. A plain van might raise suspicions about why and what you're doing but with one like yours nobody will think that you're hiding out or doing anything illegal.

For what it's worth, we've been living in a 25' class C for 20 years. We mostly stay in big box stores when we're in a city but we have stayed on the street on occasion. We're definitely not stealthy. We've only been asked to leave a parking lot a couple of times because of city ordinances.

I would not change the paint job cops are jocks and will dig it like I do. Trying to hide is the biggest give away.

Thanks for all the love, guys. Yeah, I'm a fan of the paint job too and never really considered changing it.

Wagoneer: I totally dig that painted box truck.

it was cool these people painted and recorded the transformation. It must be out there in cyberspace all with my permission

Jonathan, welcome, nice looking van! I have some property in Lawrenceburg about an hour east of Louisville. I enjoy the Highlands area of your town, have you ever eaten at Impellizzaris Pizza? A MUST eat at place!

We lived in the Highlands a few years ago and The Grape Leaf meditteranean restaurant on Frankfurt Ave was awesome. Darrell.
