Been living in my car for just under 3 weeks now and loving the freedom however I'm feeling vulnerable at night cause the car has no window tinting. Made a couple of makeshift shades out of construction paper and have a windshield sun blocker from Walmart. Helped quite a bit  UT still feel exposed stealth camping. Trying to find places to park at night can be stressful. Hoping to get a van he shortly once my projects get moving. Haven't worked in close to 18 months thanks to the local economy. As the oil capital of Canada, my city is taking a beating everywhere.  Unemployment rate is close to 10%; highest it's been since the mid '80's. Just thought I'd say hello....Cheers!

Hi, welcome! Many people use cardboard cutouts that fit the windows and put a black trash bag or black construction paper on the side facing out. It makes it look like darkly tinted windows but you can't see inside. That might be a quick fix to your over night issues.

I have a friend who lived in Edmonton, he called it Deadmonton :)

Hello,  and welcome to the CRVL forum :)

You are starting out on the right track here at CRVL.
All the best finding and fitting out a Van !

Hey thanks Rugster! Ya it's Deadmonton alright. Even more so now with the unemployment rate. That's what happens when the local Government puts all the eggs in one basket. When oil prices dropped, it was like someone fared in the closet...everyone left including the jobs. Ha ha ha.
Ya I tried cardboard but felt it was a little too stiff. I wanted the construction paper to fit between the rubber seal and the window so I could open the windows for air flow. Like you said, it looks like window tint from a few feet away. To give it a bit of stability, I used a layer of packing tape on the inside. The windshield cover from Walmart is garbage. Flimsy as hell and won't stay put at the bottom unless I anchor it with something. Kind of hangs like a drape otherwise.

Hey ahh_me2!!! Are you in the city limits or lurking on the outskirts? We should go for a coffee or something if you're up for it. Let me know...cheers!
