So, last Tuesday got a wild hair, last minute invite to a bbq at my parent's lake house an hour from me. They live near a lake, sis owns the cabin next door, my dad's brother has a house across the street. As my little sister was in town briefly, we decided on an impromptu bbq. Nothing doing, I was to bring the new chick (ie. Evie, my new camper). Was all good, as my uncle has space with 30amp hookups and sewer on his land, free hookups. Woot!! So the bbq was fun, lots of talking and beer and yelling... that's what family is for, right? haha And it has been a long time since all for of us daughters were together with the parents, so that part was nice. Was the first night I slept in the rig, no issues at all.
Well, was getting things geared up and packed up for the upcoming big trip this coming week. Lo and behold, my 25 y/o daughter shows up and we get to talking and decide on an impromptu camping trip a town over. It has an indian casino, and I wanted to see if you could really just camp there for free. At that one, you can. No problems at all. I pulled in and there was a guard circling the lot to drive people over on their golf carts, I asked if I could park here, they said sure, but pointed out the free electric hookups at both ends of the lot. We went in for dinner and spent a little $$ for some entertainment, then hung out in the rig, yakked and watched a movie. With the patrollers and the well lit parking lot, felt very safe indeed. We weren't asked how many nights nor were we told it was for visiting patrons to the casino only, just pointed out where there were plugins. We stayed maybe an hour total in the casino (bathrooms and free drinks, meals were reasonable), and a whole buncha people spending their money, haha. We slept in and took off, no questions asked. Was pretty cool.
Tuesday I'm headed out to Corpus Christi, TX. It's at least a 10 hour drive by car, yee. Found a place in town near the attractions for not too much, huge pull in place for me, with big trees, picnic table, bbq pit, full hookups and wifi, showers, pool, laundry, and rec room. Will be staying there til Sunday (Saturday night is the HS reunion, yippee :s ). My old gradeschool friend is flying down there and is renting wheels, so will have a way to get around while there.
And then on Sunday heading out to near Garner State Park, meeting family there. We're gonna inner tube it down the river like we did when we were kids. Then head back home Tuesday.
Don't even know what to pack, really, and kinda don't care, gonna wing it. Have the basics, packed most of my summer clothes, kitchen pretty well stocked and some food stocked. Have 2 debit cards, cc as a backup, checks and will have cash on me. The parks are already paid for, along with the reunion. Tank is filled up with gas, the holding tanks are almost completely empty, with a little fresh water, propane is at 2/3rds, should be enough for a week for only cooking and hot water when needed (will turn off otherwise). Will have to fill up my gas tank 2 more times, by my estimations. It's a 50 gallon gas tank. Got AAA for any roadside assistance. Figured that anything I haven't packed I can either find easily enough or don't need it anyways.
The bed slept good, the AC's work, the fridge is keeping everything nice n cold, the shower n shitter works, and it drives just like a van. Can't think of much more I'll need above that. :shy:
