It already has, and I think the trend will be corrosive to the community.  Here was my take on it from February.

I haven't read your blog yet (I will) but if all the people who was worthy of a GFM, Debra was. I'm glad that it worked out for her. She such an inspiration to anyone with health problems who wants to live a simple, happy life. That said, I agree that GFM has done more to hurt than help the community. There's already a problem with how nomads are viewed and when every Tom, Dick and Mary starts one for things that are not needs, much less emergencies, it reinforces a negative ebegging image.
