Hi Folks,

I am planning on retiring and living on the road in some kind of vehicle but don't know where to start. I have a 2014 FJ Cruiser that unfortunately is not paid off yet. Should I get a camper to haul behind it or get into a Class B RV or other type? I want to try to stay small. I sure would love your suggestions!

Hi and welcome.

That is an question that the answer will be different for everyone.  It depends on your needs and wants.  I would look around the different sections covering those types of vehicles and see which one seems to fit your needs best.

Welcome to the CRVL forums souzeeque! Do as nobodyG17 suggests and look around at all of your choices. Consider how you'll want to travel and live. If possible go to a RV dealer and go through the motions of living in each type of RV.

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you.

Hi welcome, congratulations on your decision and retirement :).

What I have learned from living this way is it helps when I become more and more clear on what is important to me, it could change, but for now what is the most important? Freedom, privacy, solitude, adventure, seeing lots of places or staying put and enjoying one? Comforts or good gas mileage? Wanting to mostly stay on roads or go off into the wilderness?

Like for me, minimal, good gas mileage, able to go anywhere and be relatively safe is what is driving my decision making, so I will have something very different from someone else with different needs, wants, values. I have my dream vehicle it is a two cylinder, rusty small pickup my dog and I could go to Mexico in or about anywhere with out fear.

Oh yes and reading here really gives a ton of info. Have fun!!

Congrats again!
