Hi everyone! I am getting ready to make that big scary jump. My van is almost complete other than the power windows problem and a go over from a mechanic. I'm starting to pack my things and try to downsize so I'm not living in a pile of useless crap.

My biggest challenge is I'm a crafter so if you know about crafting you need everything. I'm trying to focus on just a few crafts that I really enjoy that don't require many supplies.

Another area I am uncertain of is where should I go? I'm east coast right now and want to head to areas of comfortable seasonal weather. So do I head South to FL or West to AZ? So confused. If anyone has any experience with these two places I would love to know the Pros and Cons.

I wish we had an East Coast Cheap RV Living community like the West Coast has.

Thanks! If you see my username on a vehicle come say hello.

Welcome BohemianAdventuresTV to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started. In summer, north and up in altitude for for cooler weather. In winter, south and lower altitudes for warmer weather.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Hi, and welcome.  I don't have any advice for you on comparing your two areas of interest as I've not been to Florida and do not know much about that state.  In terms of crafting and your supplies needed, could you get a small trailer to pull behind your van?  Or set up roof racks to allow you to carry a lot of additional items on top of the van?

I am a native Floridian (my great-great grandfather was born here before it was a state. His father had to get a passport from the federal government to travel here as it was foreign territory then!) The weather will not be comfortable before late Oct/early Nov. In fact, Halloween is usually muggy.

Google "Florida Water Management camping" for free/ or/cheap camping. You have to pre-register for most sites online and most are without bathrooms or running water, but it would save your funds and you could stay free at some Walmarts, Lowes, or Cracker Barrels when traveling between Water Management sites.
