IF you've experienced this with your generator, what happened?

Did the engine stop running or did it just kill the electrical output?

Usually I always check the oil before starting but if the generator is on an angle and a little low it won’t start, it will crank but doesn’t start. I don’t trust it to protect my engine from oil starvation while running but anytime the sensor is not below the level of the oil it is suppose to disable the motor ignition so no spark will occur and the engine stops running. Usually with small engines it is the sensor or wiring for the sensors that go bad and prevent a spark.

the Honda's shut the engine off. most Honda small engines now-a-days no matter the application have a low oil shut off. highdesertranger

Low oil sensor will disable the ignition...shutting down the engine. If you are watching it when it happens, you might see the low oil light come on briefly before the engine shuts down.

Of course that makes sense, protecting the motor.

My 900W was acting up a month ago when I last used it and it wouldn't run my battery charger. I checked the voltage at the genset receptacle and it read just 24VAC. The motor ran fine so I figured it was the voltage regulator or other electrical problem.

On this model you need to remove the side panel (4 screws) to check the oil, which is dumb. Anyway, I checked it and it was a down a little but still OK.

Today I changed the oil and it's working fine. So I may have an intermittent electrical problem. I'm in S&B for a while and will run it occasionally to see if it will stay acting right.
