Regarding feeding a generator from the vehicle main fuel tbk, they make low pressure pumps (2-3 psi if I remember correctly) and they're quite cheap on Amazon.

RVs that have this feature have a separate feed line that's mounted higher in the fuel tank than the one for the vehicle engine.  It's designed so you can't run the fuel tank under 1/4 tank while powering the generator.

With a do-it-yourself adaption you might strand yourself in the boondocks by running your fuel tank dry powering the generator.
