I Found a dodge van 1ton . it looks to be a mid 80's van. It was used as a church van/bus . I think it has the 318 motoor , I don't the mileage on the van, the only thing i dislike about it is that it has all those windows , but they are lightly tinted. the asking price is $1600.00 and all the seats have been removed except the front seats. So my question is , does it sound like it's worth checking further into? decent price ?

I would ass-u-me it would have been taken care of and not beat to death

Windows can always be closed over with sheet metal and with the seats gone -- less work for you --

Gas mileage ain't gonna be good but for the price - what do you want -- rubber biscuit

Photos ?

I have an honest to goodness mini bus, including the 14" raised roof. Chevy 350 motor gives me about 13-14 mpg if I don't go over 60ish mph. I didn't pay much more than that when I bought mine for $1800 two years ago. It is a 2000 model year with 95 k inn it when purchased . ( for comparison)
You might want to check
Myfloridachurchbus.com
Or
KBB.com
For additional pricing info.

Hi Les,

Good links, but an update. I've been haunting Florida Church Bus for years looking for the "perfect bus", and they've recently doopled and quadrupled their prices, it seems. What you paid for one of their rigs two years ago won't go nearly as far with them today. I'm not sure why Greg, et al, did that, but there it is.
True,my bus doesn't exactly blend in, and I have never lost it in a parking lot. But the price was too good to pass up. Most people don't realize it is a " Rv" , but lots of people commented that it would be the perfect flea mkt vehicle. I forgot to mention, keep an eye open for state or county auctions. My bus actually spent most of it's life as a state prison transporter, hence, the dark green and faded spots on the door from the state seal.
Angelli, sorry to hear that about Myfloridachurchbus, I've been to their site several times, and they came recommended by a vandweller friend who has bought 2 from them.

If you haven't committed to the bus yet, I have another suggestion. Buses that have already been converted or partially converted are at really decent prices. I've seen them at your price range on ebay and craigslist. We got ours for $2500 and all we had to do was some updating. It took us a couple months to find it, but we're pretty happy with what we have.

Hi Les,

I think they are really good people, and trust the quality of what they do. It's just the pricing that has gone sky high over that past couple of years. But that's just my opinion, and there may be some good reasons for it that I'm unaware of...
