Ford or Chevy extended van?

I am thinking about buying an older extended (LB) Ford or Chevy to use off road 2WD or 4WD. Which would be better, the shorter wheel base Ford with longer back behind the wheels or the longer wheel base Chevy with the shorter back?

pluses and minuses to both.

Chevy with the Long Wheel Base(LWB) you have to watch getting high centered, that's hung up between the wheels.

Ford with the Short Wheel Base(SWB) and long over hang behind the rear wheels you have to watch the rear getting hung up.

I find dealing with the LWB much easier. the SWB there isn't much you can do to avoid dragging your ass. you even do it in drive ways on pavement.

also as a side note I always recommend against a 4x4 conversion.
