Good Idea and it looks nice too.

Dennis

Nice job! If mine wernt on hinges, I'd be looking at doing something like this.
AJ- look at pics of TwoknivesKatie's stove, David Hair Sr ( yahoo vandwellers construction site owner) built her a sliding stovetop, and I think Bri ( Bk2valve) has one too. Doesn't hurt to get ideas.

After finishing the pull-out shelf under the bed, I’ve been quite busy working on the rear doors. I already removed the fabric covered panels and decided to replace them with built-in cabinetry. There is only 3″-4″ depth available, but every little bit of storage counts in a van.

As you can see, the cabinet itself is almost finished.

I’m working on the driver’s side rear door, but the other rear door needs one too. To finalize it, I need to create two new fabric covered panels. I haven’t yet decided on the updated fabrics, however they have to be ordered a.s.a.p.

Follow my progress on cargovanconversion.com

I just read thru your blog. Great workmanship. I used the vinyl planking in my old trailer. I had some problems with it but solved them with tiny brass head nails. Mine seemed to swell and not lay flat in the summer. Drove me nuts till I used the nails. Not by the book but it worked and looks intentional. Maybe you have a better brand. I can say, I like the feel of the vinyl on bare feet better than the wood planking.

Thanks for reading my blog/website. I used TrafficMaster Allure Ultra which is a pretty heavy planking. I haven't completely finished that installation yet, but so far I love it. I chose it for the water repellent properties and it's flexibility.

Keep on reading.

Van.

Nice looking work, Van ...

Never thought about that. Thats a good idea. If you cover it right it could even be a place to store some valuables. I think.

Awesome...were you able to get any insulation between the shelf and outside of the van...Good job!

yesican,

the cabinets haven't been attached permanently yet, because I still need some fabric on the panels, so I might still apply some insulation. Both sides of each door however, contain locking mechanisms and the door stops and there's no way for insulation there.

Van.

Decisions now have to be made about a side door cabinet. Features like stove top, exterior folding shelf, interior & exterior access have to be incorporated.

Give me your ideas!

Follow my progress on cargovanconversion.com

The design of that multi-use cabinet is just gorgeous. I love the flowing geometric look. Nice craftsmanship.
