My ford Explorer has one, plus the 2 eyebrow windows. The motor for the sunroof appears to be defunct but that's ok for now, no leaks. anyone else have this and if so what did you do with it? cover, remove, paint over? I like the idea of having the light and vent up there just need to fix the motor I suppose.

on a side note, 1996 ford with power locks and windows, the windows work fine but the locks will only "lock" sometimes with the door switches (either side), however the switch at the back of the van works the locks up and down just fine. Anyone else had lock switch issues?

one more thing anyone else with an Explorer conversion van of mine vintage know if they where equipped with keyless entry. I know there is an alarm speaker under the hood but has been disconnected. I tried talking to Explorer but both times I called I spoke to a woman who was not very helpful and seemed "unknowledgeable" on the subject.
Damn I get long winded lat at night, sorry folks.

Hi Tink,

Sounds just like mine. It is a 1998 Explorer E150. I have had it since March. It has the hitop fibreglass roof. And it has door locking issues. It also has keyless lock and entry. It is about to turn over 80000 miles.

What are eyebrow windows?

The only issue with the doors is that you cannot unlock it from the switch on the driver door. It locks all the doors, but will not unlock them. I need to use the remote for that (or just open the door). The remote does not work if the key is in the 'ignition-on' or 'accesories' position, even if the motor is not running.

I would like to put one of those solar fans (which I read about in another thread) in the roof, but am not sure if this is possible in the fibreglass.

I would also like to remove the TV, and have more storage space. Not sure if that is possible, either.

This van will be going into storage in Sept. till I return for my next trip in either 2013 or 2014, so I am not able to do the work on it myself.

Lifey

Lifemagician, Thanks. Is it a factory keyfob that actuates the doorlock or is it an after market add on? and if so what brand? All I got when I bought mine was the keys.
The eyebrow windows (what I call them) are the 2 forward facing in the roof above and to either side of the TV.
The tv is easily removable by taking the wooden fascia that surrounds it (4 screws I believe) then the TV will just slide out. plenty of slack in the wires to pull it out then unhook the power and antenna connection. My plan is to make that space a storage space also bu have a flat screen on a hinged cover for the existing hole left .
