I'm in Las Vegas visiting some of my family. After crashing with them for a night, and the awkwardness that involves, I splurged on a hotel room on the Strip. (Last minute booking, very good price.) Since my van and solar panel are higher than the 7-foot clearance of the parking garage, they had me park in the free, uncovered "overflow" lot. Excellent.

Looking out my hotel window, I realized that since this is a 24/7/365 city, there's nothing unusual about vehicles in parking lots at night, or people coming and going at all hours. If you can stand city noises, then there are plenty of places on or off the Strip to park overnight.

Why are you in a hotel, when you have a van and loads of free/awesome parking!? :)

I agree Vegas isn't a bad place to stealth. I usually spend a week or so here on my travels to/from AZ and Northern California/PNW.

None of the ladies would come back to my van. ;)

Is stealth generally easy in Navada? Last time I went thru Reno, they were pretty rabid about not allowing overnight parking anywhere.

LLLLYUK!!

I HATE Vegas, and would be happy as a clam if I never get near that place again!!

I'm not saying everyone should go there, only that if you are there, it's not a bad place to stealth camp.

I stayed in Reno and Vegas a while. The majority of Walmarts don't allow you to stay, but casinos often welcome RVs, not to mention stealth vans. I slept a few nights the Circus Circus parking garage with no trouble (no fees). There is security but have tons of drunks to deal with to distract them. I was staying with a friend in a neighborhood in Sparks for a while after that, but was still sleeping in the van. There's one lot in Vegas that doesn't have a fee if you get in early enough and I imagine you could easily overnight there. It's by Main Street Station and has a giant sign stating "Free Parking (with validation)". There's a booth but if it's not a weekend or past 8pm or so, no one is in it.

There is so much open BLM land in Nevada, you can almost park anywhere there isn't a building and be assured you are on nice free BLM public land, no stealth required! (Well outside city limits of course). Most cities, especially large cities have laws against sleeping in your vehicle these days, so it's at your own risk, for getting harassed or a ticket. Doesn't seem to stop many of us tho :) I rarely have problems and haven't ever gotten a ticket (knocks on wood) so far. I've been thru most of the cities in Nevada without issue so far.

With love,
Tara

Except at Area 51. ;)
