1995 Chevy Astrovan, sliding side door.
Had trouble with the lock. The key would not open it. I have to open the front door and reach back to unlock the sliding door from inside. I use that door a lot. The mechanic said the plastic bushings that (paraphrasing here to the best of my ability) hold the metal rods that lock/unlock via the key are broken. According to him, they are no longer being manufactured--van is 20 years old.
He's looking for replacements. Any ideas on where to get them or what to replace them with? Without buying a new door...
Thanks.

I have also found them in little plastic packages at O'Rileys and AutoZone.  Take a sample in the store, and usually someone will point them out.

I just tried to replace the knobs for the radio. The dealer doesn't have them, the ones at O Reilly parts are a hair to small, the junk yard will sell only the complete radio, not just the knobs. I put a pair of pliers in the glove box.

It makes sense that the door parts from other cars and trucks would fit. What year did they stop making this model or it's similar vehicles?
