I'm really happy for you. I'm still in the planning stages of my build, but I have to admit, I'm jealous. :)

off topic but dark hematite, that's what prospectors call black sand. are you a prospector? highdesertranger

Black sand? I don't get the reference, so no, I'm not a prospector.

Mr Noodly, I don't know from experience "yet" but I believe that a little organization will go along way. I mean, It's not crammed to the ceiling. You'll get it set up where it's comfortable. Things like this take time, and it seems like you didn't have a whole lot of that to get out of the house.

True, it's just heaped in there now, but there's still too much.

I guess not darkhematite. hematite is an iron ore it is one of the main ingredients in black sand. it's called black sand because it's dark. while if you find black sand it's no guaranty there will be gold. however if you find gold you are almost 100% certain to find it with black sand, aka dark hematite. anyway just thought I would ask. highdesertranger

This is where I'll be for the next few weeks. My friend paints motorcycles in a shop behind his house. He has a trailer he takes to cycle gatherings. It's set up with air conditioning, which is vital right now in the South where it's disgustingly humid. i've moved my stuff into the trailer and will be sleeping in it most nights. I also get to use his web access, bathroom, kitchen.

It took an hour to mount the first crossbar of the new rack. Fiddle and adjust... fiddle and adjust... fiddle and adjust...

It would have been a LOT easier with an extra set of hands and a ladder. And some shade. Mad dogs and vandwellers go out in the midday sun.

What kind of tape are you using with the pink foam board? It looks like black duct tape. I would use sheathing tape (TuckTape).

I'm sort of from the duct-tape-and-WD40 school of doing things.

Don't forget the baling wire! Gotta have a roll of baling wire
for those jobs duct tape won't handle!

:)

The solar panel arrived this afternoon. The shipping pallet is the heavy part.

Heh that's a lot of pallet for a single solar panel. I had 3 shipped and 2 were in one box and then one was alone. Just straight up boxes. I bet the shipping guys loved that set up. LoL

Well, it's a big panel. About 5.5 ft by 3.5 ft. @ 270 Watts.

Well, they're shipping a big piece of tempered glass in an aluminum frame, so it's the same as shipping a big window.

I like the fact that they took the time and effort to pack it right. They seem to be on the ball. I've bought most of my solar components from them as well, but got a local deal on my two 230 watt panels.

Can't wait to see your solar rig!

Part of today's job: filling nooks and crannies with cellulose insulation, unless it's a bad idea.

I don't know. That looks like it has potential as a little storage compartment!

I wouldn't use loose insulation mainly because it will pack down eventually.
I'd be more inclined to stuff some closed cell foam insulation in there.

... but, there are many paths! ;-)
