Do you prepare a portable collapsible bathtub for playing in the wild?

Does the RV have a shower? If not, how to take a shower? So, how do you solve the shower problem? I'm curious, is it portable collapsible bathtub or other ways?

Barnett, there are 5 recent threads on this in the Personal Hygiene section.

I've never heard of anyone using a collapsible bathtub. It would require alot of heated water, something that many on here don't have.

The only heated bathtub I have seen is a horse trough over a fire :)

I have a shower built in.

Do you have a source of hot water sufficient to fill a bathtub? the first step would be to prepare the ground so there are no sharp object on it to puncture your tub.  Then will need a recirculating hot water heater, the kind they make for Jacuzzi tubs. Of course you will also need a good size generator to have sufficient electrical power to heat the water and run the pump. But you also need a hot water heater to heat the water in the tub before you turn on that pump as the heater in it is only for maintaining heat, it does not have sufficient power to bring a tub full of cold water up to a hot temperature.    Or you might just think about heading out west and follow the roads that lead you to natural hot springs that are big enough to soak in.

I cringe when I see how much water gets wasted from a sticks/bricks bathtub, that never seems to stay warm enough while you are in it. Any plans on what to do with the 100 gallons of grey bath water ?

I did see someone on a youtube video who built in a bathtub under their bed in a van. They could access it by takingoff the mattress folding back the board that supports the mattress, the board was on a continuous hinge. I think the girlfriend insisted on having a bathtub. I doubt it got used unless they were staying in an RV park.

People get all kinds of ideas when they design their builds. Many of them will turn out to be wasted efforts and get removed later when they find out it just is not a practical idea for life on the road. A bathtub portable or built in is one such concept that just makes no sense.

Often times putting in a shower is also in that category. It can work in a large RV but is more difficult to do in a small van that does not have a large fresh water tank, no grey water tank and no water heater either.

But there are individuals who for their own personal preference want a daily hot shower. It is not something that is a needed or essential for the lifestyle but it is certainly something they strongly desire, enough so to overcome the obstacles of making it happen.

I use a collapsable doggy pool for my shower base. It folds up to about the size of a toaster.

I don't even try to shower in my van. I just use a basin and some hot water. Doesn't need to be a very large basin either. I use a restaurant bus tray, and that's PLENTY.

Some people get by with wipes, and I carry those too as backup. I think someone here turned me on to no-rinse bathing wipes, and they work well.
