i am wondering if anyones using the dish flex pay program for travlers what has your experience been like

We use a Dish tailgater portable set up on their pay as you go plan. We turn it on as we need it and simply don't pay when we stop using it at the end of the season.

Great picture, easy too set up and never a problem getting a signal.

jimindenver,

The Tailgater is what I'm planning on....gotta watch the F1, Indycar, and MotoGP races!

How much power does the 'box & antenna' draw? Do you run it off an inverter? (My TV will be DC).

i would look into the wally receiver since it's 4k ready and it's the same price as the 211z wich is not 4k ready

The dish runs off of the receiver that is rated for 65 watts. I use to run both that and a TV rated at 65 watts off of a 150 watt inverter. The receiver does require a inverter.

so I assume you are all talking satellite TV. so I noticed no one actually gave a price. what is the actual price? highdesertranger

It may have changed since last season but it was $65 a month and we don't have the basic package. Our Tailgater set up was refurbished on ebay from tweetys for $250 I think.

It looks like they have a new version out now.

As we go. The day before we take off I call or get on the website and make a payment. The service is good for the next month and if I don't make a payment again, it stops until I do.

so is that 65 bucks pay as you go or do you need a contract.  highdesertranger

i know i posted the dish site but you'll have to chat with them and get the regular programming rates and tell them it's for your rv and you don't want a contract

they might refer you over to pace i dunno

the site is unclear and it still gives the 2 year contract pricing when you would be paying the non cract pricing since the hardware is at full cost

i hear the wingaurd carry out is better than the king unit with the rain as far as rain fade goes. but i can't justify the cost and the fact of having a need for a 12 volt power source

May have to take advantage of this once I get to Arizona this winter...though $500 (roughly) for the dish and everything will be a blow to the wallet

You don't have to spend $500. A dish will come with it free, but you may have to buy a tripos to mount it on--chance are you can find a cheap used one.

Of course it wont be automatic, you'll have to line it up every time you move. But it's easy after you learn it and is no problem at all.
