 Hi everyone, I'm interested in safe stealth & dispersed camping hoping for suggestions and advice. I own a little over an acre in Siskiyou county California in an HOA, only allowed to camp 30 days/year per county rules. Don't have the funds to really develop the land to make it permanently livable. Want to start a hobby farm on my land so looking at BLM/Forest land in the area that is nearby that I can commute from. Also looking for a lightweight 4x6 enclosed cargo car trailer for mixed tent/trailer living to save money for a larger cargo trailer and a pickup truck. On SSI and medicaid, so very limited income, and permanent "resident" of Eastern Washington, single female in my 50s.

Welcome Kell to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

wow Siskiyou county. is there gold on the property? water?

There are lots of videos on converting a cargo trailer to a small RV. Runaway camper trailers are another option for the budget minded. There are a lot of brave people here that do fine in a van or mini van, some amazingly in cars.

You could try something like a metal arched cabin on your land if the zoning allows, makes for a cheap, robust and mostly maintenance free home.

I'm planning to build one in New Mexico and then travel most of the time in a mini van with a Springbar tent.

Thank you guys! Yes, there's a creek through the center of the property, probably gold in the area, most likely the creek bed for a placer (which I do plan to exploit lol). It's in an HOA and I have to have a sewer and well before any building construction (except for a storage shed). Siskiyou county allows 30 days camping during a year.

Going down there for a few days this weekend with my son but not set up yet for camping. Hope to have a small 4x6 enclosed cargo trailer next spring and plan on planting a small orchard, setting up a chicken coop, starting a garden, etc. Going to set up some tent pads with a fire ring/patio type space/gazebo for those 30 permissible days! Can also have a shed under 120 square feet without permit. Apparently the HOA doesn't care if I do this, just can't live there permanently.

Need to find places to camp close by around the country to attend to the property daily during the growing season.

Am interested in going down to the snowbirder places down in Arizona/California some winters eventually, maybe caravanning with the group.

Also willing to barter, trade or sell my produce & eggs to help out caravanners and others but that probably won't be able to do much before next summer. In a couple weeks I will have an over abundance of tomatoes (10 plants), still have ripe peaches on one tree and way too many eggs for my son and I, but this is up in Eastern Washington near Naches/Yakima.
