I seem to be spending way too much time online, on this dang laptop, and all my projects and financial prospects have suffered as well as my circadian Rhythm, as well as my health, and state of mind.

I don't know If I can go cold turkey, but I have to try.

I think I am going to turn off my router, lock up my laptop, and use my phone only as a phone or text delivery.

Please don't wait for me to respond to issues or offer advice/info on the electrical subforum for at least the next week.

If you read this next week, I hope you enjoyed you're well earned break!

You are a treasure to this forum, but your first obligation is to yourself!
Bob

I've seen you give a lot of in depth input. It's always appreciated, but don't make it your obligation. Just share as you're able, and thanks.

A change in pace is always good. It's forced on me where we camp. I might get some 4g in the mornings but the rest of the day we are in a dead zone. No calls, no text, no net, no customers.....

I look forward to your eventual return.

When I used to do the facebook thing, I found that I always felt compelled to check it and even now I find the need to hit the email app on the phone all the time. It's a blessing and a curse to have this technology at our fingertips! Good luck in your effort to cut back. I have appreciated your input on many topics and it seems like you are extremely active here. I for one greatly enjoy your willingness to share your vast knowledge.
Every once in a while I think it would be good to switch to a "dumb" phone to limit myself, but alas I am too chicken.

SW, your very detailed responses have been a help to many. Just the other day you mentioned DC to DC chargers and this gave me the incentive to look into one to replace my system of charging my gel cell house batteries from my Prius 12v battery.

Today I charge my three 12v 8 ah batteries with a PSW inverter to a Multi chemistry BatteryMinder charger. I did this knowing if the power losses having not researched other solutions.

From one of your posts I contacted PowerStream about a solution to charge the gel cells with their DC to DC charger and found they had a solution that would work with much higher efficiency.

I am still contemplating the purchase since my current gel cell charging system gives me 120v for a few things that I have not converted to charging on 12v power.

The fact that we have someone that is willing to share such electrical information for this forum, regardless of what people pick and choose to do now or later, has been a positive.

Have a well deserved break and hope to have you back in more proportioned way.

Brent

Well SW as you have been offline for a while , hope your "vacation" went well and you have been able to break the HABIT ! At least partially.

I've ditched several other forums I was on to spend time here on CRVL ! less is more...................

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone.

I was not successful in keeping my laptop locked up for the week.
I needed to research things online as my father is in the hospital and complications have arisen post surgery.

Nothing else seems important at the moment.
I won't be contributing to any threads for the foreseeable future

I'm sure you know you'll have hundreds of positive wishes for you and your father coming your way from this forum. Take care of yourself, too.

Sending your dad some warm healing thoughts.
