I would also add that while there are many Sprinters out there for what seems bargain prices,...the unfortunate fact is that they are MUCH more expensive and difficult to wrench on simply because Mercedes. And while I have seen many Sprinters with over 300,000 miles on them, that seems to be where they finally give out, unlike the American V8s. I have yet to see a 400,000+ odometer Sprinter. I think it is simply a matter of years of doing too much of what should be done using a bigger motor. Hauling with a little 2.7 or 3.0 loads that Chevy and Ford do with twice that displacement,...no surprise the Sprinters just don't last.
