Without question you can build better for less, I assure you!

When I went to the d. light Web site, I couldn't find any specifics, even under the Specs tab. They list neither the Amp-hour capacity of the battery, nor the light output in lumens of any of the included lights. For whatever reason, they rate the light output of their lights as "8x brighter than kerosene," which is really not helpful. I would rather go with a couple of Luci solar lanterns, and call it good.

The d. Light is a good unit and I thought about buying one.

However, this one is better.

Its the UST 30 Day Lantern. It is not solar but runs continuously for 30 days on 3 'D' cell batteries at 29 Lumens or on high its runs for 32 hours for 300 Lumens. Medium is 150 lumens but I forget for how long.

After the UST, this would be my second favorite. I like that it has a nice warmer light. Still good run times.
