I just got started on making my van livable. I got some nice carpet for $6 and cut it to fit. I've never done anything like that and I think I did a good job.<div><br></div><div><br></div><div>I had to clean the hell out of the van because the owner before me left it a mess. But it looks nice now.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>I made a hammock from a sheet and attached it to a seat belt and a hand hold, they both hold my weight, yay!</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>I'm pretty sure I'm going to keep a running journal of my progress, maybe even where I visit.</div>

Your carpet job looks nice, although I would worry a bit about the hammock falling.<div><br></div><div>Tying it to a seat belt is a great idea, not too sure about using a handhold as the other anchor. If you can, I would also tie that end to a seat belt, and failing that, the metal frame of the van, for stability.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>I look forward to reading more.</div>

This hand hold has some metal in it and it seems <i>very</i>&nbsp;secure. It has held my weight so far. I'm crossing my fingers that it lasts.

sweet! why not just have roll up pad and sleep on that pretty carpet?<br>

Looks nice: what Meg said...

Our first van we doubled on the carpet padding under the carpet and slept in a sleeping bag on the floor. We were just about your age, then lol.

<div>you said:</div><div>I made a hammock from a sheet and attached it to a seat belt and a hand hold, they both hold my weight, yay!</div><div><br></div><div>I saw:</div><div>This guy had a real hammock so not sure if it would work with a sheet or not. &nbsp; He took a long strap and attached one end and put it out the front door. &nbsp; Then he closed the door on the strap. &nbsp; Then he took the other end and put another strap on it (one of those heavy cargo straps) and took it out the back corner of his Van on the opposite side of front door.</div><div><br></div><div>Then he took the one end and put it thru the buckle on the other end. &nbsp; It was not going to fall down in the middle of the night or pull off a hand hold.</div><div><br></div><div>I lucked out with getting a hammock. &nbsp; This gal and her son could not get into a camp site and ours was huge. &nbsp; She asked if they could pitch their tents up by the stream... We invited them down for our campfire as they could not have one where they were. &nbsp;Even fed them some... Well when they left the next day she gave us this amazing hammock. &nbsp;&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>I would be nervous about trusting a sheet as one little tear and away you go.</div><div><br></div><div>gimo76</div><div><br></div><div>Nice carpet job by the way.... look forward to seeing the rest.</div><div><br></div>
