Induction stoves are great. To use them with a battery, you need a large inverter. I ran mine on a 2000 watt sine wave inverter. But it uses too much electricity to be anywhere close to ok with storage batteries. I use mine on main's power when I can plug-in. I use a butane camp stove for cooking. Or my microwave, which only needs a few minutes run time.

I would like something like this for use in the summer, to avoid heating up/humidifying my trailer. I do have an outlet outside, by my door, so with a portable table, I could keep the heat out of my living space for the most part.

However, I'm not sure I should grab something like this versus a propane or other alternative.

I have an induction cooktop and I totally love it. I only have a 1000 watt inverter so I can only set it to 5 of 10 power level. Even at only power level 3 (about 600 watts continuous) it is about the same as a medium propane flame. At setting 5 (1040 watts) it is hotter than my propane flame on full. On power level 1 or 2 it is annoying and it just cycles 600 watts on and off over and over which is hard on the inverter (like 2 sec on/off)

I would think if you have 2 batteries and 400 watts of solar you could use these for shorter cook times like 15 mins max. and still be able to get the batteries recharged in a decent amount of time.

I also really like that you can put these on an extension cord and cook outside with them so there is no mess on the counter top.

That is a cool feature. I'm lucky to have an outlet outside, and I wouldn't mind using it this summer.

Thanks for the feedback!
