I have been wondering, is there a site out there with possible conversion floor plans? I know there are RV floor plans spread out at various dealer sites, but i was thinking it be cool to see vandweller ones. Maybe this would be a worthwhile project Then people can just browser thru tried and tested conversions for ideas, maybe with links to the conversion step by steps that it is used in (if available).

edit: Looks like sportsmobile kinda does something like this with their conversions. They also have a do it yourself studio. Still would be nice to have an archive of other floorplans various people have done, but i guess all the various ones are on there for the most part .

http://www.sportsmobile.com/1_std-rb-plans.html

I did a little after editing in paint (yes, I'm one of the few who still uses that program), but here's my ideal setup. Kitchen wares and portable shower could be moved outside with a small table.

Edit: accidentally cleared this image from my photobucket, boo ):

Pretty cool. Im working on my layout now...using their stuff to get me started then editing in inkscape/gimp. Well here it is. Not sure about exact sizing etc, but since we will be making just about everything from scratch, this should work out. I know I use a lot of room for a shower in a van, but i don't need a ton of storage (it might actually take up less room than Im showing here). The futon/gaucho will have storage underneath the seat too (im thinking power under there as well, or maybe under table), and maybe the passenger front floor if needed.

Hey...I'm liking what you're doing. Keep coming up with more designs. I have no clue how to do it and you guys are just what I need. Good job!
Rae

I was worried about actual sizes and doability, so went with a measuring tape and my carpenter partner and talking about, everything here is definitely do able. We decided to add a bulk head and maybe slipping the house batteries up there (im not convinced of this though). We are already thinking more sophisticated plumbing than i was planning Any more I will save for a specific conversion thread though.

@yesican, i just used that link above than picked do it yourself studio. Prt scr than paste it into an art program and save it. I think if you sign up with them you can just straight save it, and then use their program later to change, but i try to avoid signing up for anything unless its a last resort

@free Looks good...is the battery box in front of the bed or a part of it? Are you going to vent to the outside?

It will be underneath the bed but will not be coming for a few months as I am doing this all on a shoe string budget currently. When I do get it I plan on getting sealed AGM's so I shouldn't need to worry about venting.

This is the bed design I plan on using. I found it in another thread here but haven't been able to find the thread again. Good thing I saved it to my comp.

Thanks for posting this link, and good luck with your conversion.
-Bruce

I decided to nix the shower afterall. Just seemed like to much expense to put in for something i cant remove without ripping something up, I want to do this van cheap as i can cause im increasingly nervous about the van dying in the future. Id rather spend the bulk of proceeds on non permanent things like solar. Think ill just use a tote and solar shower or sprayer.

Remote camp sites have 20 solutions for shower. Privacy tent makes all happy unless winter.
Pay Campsites will have showers. Urban also has many solutions.
