Coleman Dual Fuel

I've been hunting around and it seems that the coleman 424 dual fuel is the stove for me. &nbsp;I like the idea of using gasoline for fuel. &nbsp;It just makes sense to me because I'll have gas with me anyway. &nbsp;Anybody use these? &nbsp;Opinions? &nbsp;I know they aren't that expensive (used on ebay), but my partner and I are on a really tight budget, so I would help us out to hear from others before picking this up.<br>-ty

Bought mine new at WalMart several years ago. Gave just under a Ben for it, then didn't see them again for a long time. Was beginning to think they had either quit carrying them, or maybe Coleman had quit making them, but they've recently reappeared at the local Wally's. Only used it once so far, but I ran it on regular gasoline.</strong></span><br><br><span style="font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif;"><strong>I tend to think along "survivalist" lines, &amp; I'm something of a "prepper", so my initial thought was that in a SHTF situation, campstove fuel availability might become an issue, but gasoline? Not so much. Heck, even if it came to syphoning, you could prolly get some! Just carry a length of hose, justin case!&nbsp;<img src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif" class="emoticon bbc_img"><br><br></strong></span>

Yeah, I know it's an outside stove. &nbsp;I drive an Aerostar and have a partner, so the entire back is taken up with the bed anyway. &nbsp;I was going to build a folding shelf on one of my back doors to hold it while cooking - with the door open that is! &nbsp;<br><br>I like my food and I think I'll use the double burner sometimes. &nbsp;I'm also really comfortable building and cooking over a fire. &nbsp;I'm more interested in if it's reliable, sturdy, fuel efficient, clean, and simple.<br><br>Thanks!<br>-ty

look up KELLY KETTLE as a wood burning or alcohol stove. uses any fuel available.&nbsp;

Another one I am considering and think it would be really a nice little solo wood/alcohol burner is the SoloStove.com stove....very nice, small and really well made and made in the USA....the price isn't too bad either....it is a wood gas burner that burns very efficiently apparently.<br><br>Bri

I used a Coleman dual-fuel stove at the RTR this year.&nbsp; Cooked on the tailgate of my pickup in the morning in very cold conditions.&nbsp; Boiled water very fast, cooked bacon and eggs in a cast iron frying pan, and was easy to light.

I generally pick up a Coleman 2 burner white gas (Naptha) camp stove (the big green ones with the red fuel tank) at a garage sale for $5.. and run straight unleaded. Works great and cheaper 'n dirt to run. ..Willy.
