Does anyone have experience with these stoves?  I am interested to know the pros and cons of each of them from people who have used them.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I’ve only owned Coleman stoves over the last 50 years. The only reason I got rid of them is to give them to somebody or the one old liquid gas pump one. To me Coleman is very reliable. I don’t know the other brand so can’t make comments. I don’t have room for it but I’d love to have a Coleman oven too.

Thanks nature lover.  That is pretty much the consensus of people and I can't argue with that.  I like some of the features of the Camp Chef, but do have to wonder about its reliability.  I have already tried out a Gas One dual purpose stove but had issues with the hose regulator right away and sent it back.  As you know, space inside of a van is limited so I liked the smaller footprint of the Gas One, but safety is of a much higher priority!

well I own stoves from both here's is my take the,

IMO older versions from both manufacturers that are made in the USA are far better as far as quality. I also found the Camp Chef's to have far better simmer control.

I haven't used Coleman 2-burner stoves, but my single burner seemed to have three settings: Won't Stay On, Too Hot, and Burned.

You are right the propane Colemans do not regulate as well or simmer hardly at all. But my Coleman butane has excellent control and simmering. Cost three times the amount of money to use bite?

This is why I switched to a dual fuel stove. I get good temperature regulation (and a piezo igniter) but can hook it to propane.

My old battered Coleman is very reliable and good for boiling water and burning everything else. My camp chef is permanently mounted in the van and is my cooking center for real food.

Thanks highdesertranger.  I think you are right on target about the older ones, but even the camp chef one's are made in China now, sadly.  From reviews I have read, there were problems with the regulators on the Teton stoves as well as the piezo ignitors, hence probably the reason that they have been discontinued.  However, I talked with Camp Chef yesterday on the phone and they admitted these issues to me.  With me though, I like the features on the Camp Chef better such as the metal grate which is made so that smaller pots can sit on them whereas the Coleman, the gap can allow small pots to fall in which I have verified.  I also like the ease of setting up the sides and back on the Teton as opposed to the Coleman Classic.  The upside to them now is that Camp Chef now has upgraded regulators and also offers a flexible hose regulator.   So, decisions, decisions.

Thanks for the response crofter.

Which Camp Chef do you have and have you had problems with the regulator?

Hello MrNoodly - I started out this year with a new Gas One 3900P dual fuel and really liked it and the small form factor.  But then I discovered that the connection for the propane bottle was coming loose while using it.  This happened twice so I sent it back, hence the search.

Hey jacqueg - They are not going to release the Teton again, but there are still some available on the market from L.L. Bean and Big 5.  And these are still way cheaper than what they are selling now which are two versions of the Camp Chef Everest.

I have the two burner range with oven, no troubles with either stove really. The Coleman was just not designed to simmer.
