I went to a local Walmart yesterday, and noticed they had Coleman 1 lb propane cans for $5.37. At first I thought to myself this is rather expensive, but then I noticed closer the price is for a DOUBLE pack This makes the cost at approx $2.69 per can. I stocked up on this yesterday! Cheapest price I've seen anywhere is from Walmart for this item. Even when they don't have double packs, the cost of a single cannister is still lower than anywhere else I've noticed.

not bad, but still much cheaper to get an adapter hose for $10 and a 20# tank for $20. I always keep a green 1 pounder around for emergencys, but bulk is by far the cheapest way to go. A fulltimer i know ran his 2 burner stove 2-3 times a day for 9 weeks off a 20# tank.

I bought a couple cans this week at Acadamy Sporting Goods in Rogers. Arkansas for $2.29 each. Then when I went across the street to Walmart they had it for $2.49 I think. Tractor Supply used to carry an adaptor to refill the 1# cans from a larger bulk bottle. The adaptor was around $24.00 but I can't seem to find it anymore. I have #20 lb. tanks with a hose and filter for my small Mr. Heater.

I have a refill kit, from harbor freight, but have never used it. Apparently the valves don't always seal properly after refilling. I don't have a larger tank to refill from. I'd like to get a 3 gallon tank that I could mount underneath but the horizontal mounting tanks are $$$

I usually pick up Worthington brand at home depot but they are now ~$3.29 each. What I like is the metal bases. They use to carry another brands that was blue and called a big boy, they shoehorned in a little more(20% claimed) propane into those. The coleman and ozark trail at wally world and target have the plastic bottom glued on. Sometimes these are not filled as much as advertised. I've picked up two and one was noticeably lighter than the other, and now I always check and shake them to determine if they are light or not.

My single burner stove always pulls the plastic bases off, and I have gotten in the habit of running a layer of electrical tape where plastic meets metal rather than have it spill my breakfast and ruin my day. Once was enough.
