So our v belt snapped yesterday, we got a new one, but when we went to install it, there's a belt in front that's blocking us from putting the v belt on

I've tried to find instructions online, & we've been looking for a user manual, but our vehicle is too old.

We've got a 1983 dodge ram campervan. Any help or advice would be appreciated

Get yourself a Haynes Manual. You can pick them up at most auto parts stores. I have an 85 chevy and wouldn't leave home without the manual. They make them for older vehicles than an 83.

you have to take the front belt off. usually one is connected to altenator the other to the power steering, as well to other things like water pump and or air pump. but usually the alternator or the power steering have a slide looking device, with a bolt through it. there is often another bolt that they pivot on sometimes both of these bolts have to be loosened then the pump or alternator slides to the inside of the belt loosening it enough to get it off. then once belt is in place again you have to use a large screw driver or bar to pry the alternator or pump back up the slide to tighten the belt, once snug you then tighten bolt. I hope that helps good luck, it is usually not a hard job unless the bolts are seized which can happen cause often it is a steel bolt into alluminium which can be a bad combination in certain climates. the worst part is that it is an awkward spot to get into. good luck

Kurbmaster has your answer! ^^^

another thing, is if you have any other questions about your vehicle's repairs and maintenance, is try your local library. Public librarys often have pretty complete collections of Chilton Repair Manuals. Sure, it's best to find the exact one for your specific year, make and model vehicle, but most any rig that has similiar running gear will work most of the time too.

With lots of searching you can find directions on the web from some who done it.
A single v belt for the alternator and waterpump-fan. The other is for the power steering pump. That is a little difficult on the V8, piece of cake on the slant 6. If the V8 try to get to the PS adjustment bolts from under the van.
Also many older used manuals on ebay.
