In case anybody needs to know, you don't need a permit to camp on the Quechan casino RV lot anymore.  It's free now.  I had to make 3 trips to Los Algodones for a root canal & crown ($440 for the whole shebang!) and each time I camped in my CR-V at the edge of the parking lot next to the RV lot.  It worked out great.

I didn't know a permit had been required. I've always just grabbed a spot.

What dentist/clinic did you use? That's a great deal. Thanks for the update and info.

I went to DeFranco, the same one Bob goes to.  They have 3 locations.  I've also been to Figuero.  There are a zillion choices, and I doubt there's a lot of difference between them.

It would be a good idea to explore this area, either on forums or on travel guides?

I THINK the policies at the Quechan casino have changed again. I THINK they're now charging to park in the RV area. I could be wrong. Whatever the reason, it's way less crowded than it used to be. And I think they're somehow limiting boondocking in the area south of the aquaduct. I know they're redeveloping the RV park just before the border. Things change.

yea they changed....from the net: RV PARKING AND CAMPING INFORMATION
Overnight RV Parking Allowed:
YES
Fee:
$7 - $10 per night.
Parking Rules:
Overnight RV parking is allowed.
1 night - $10
3 nights - $25
7 nights - $50

NOTHING IS GONNA be hardly free anymore and I get they need to survive financially and take every advantage to make a buck on their owned property................so yea, things are always changing LOL the older style lifestyle of free then is definitely being redefined!

Wow I need some cavities filled, maybe even some extractions.. I will have to try to remember this when I actually get on the road.

I pretty much winter along Ogilby Road. It's about 10 to 12 miles farther from Los Algodones and Yuma, but it's free, a lot quieter and much roomier.

Border Parking was $8.00/day in April, it's run by the Q tribe. Short walk to the crossing, depending on where you park.

I also stayed overnights off of Ogilby, along American Girl Mine Rd. [That's where they mine American Girl Dolls. j/k]

HIGHLY recommend Algodones for dental care. Oh, another decent area
is up the 95 a bit to Martinez Lake with the surrounding wild donkeys.

It was the usual $6 when I was there in early May.

Just there again in October, prices haven't changed since forever
RV < 25 ft is $8
RV > 25 ft is $12
Van w/trailer is $12

YMMV and it did.

Was just at Quenchan Casino last night; no fees but overnight RV's are now in the Truckers area - still plenty quiet.
