You can get a cheap ANDROID phone for $25. You can also get AT&T service via H20 company for $25 for six months with only voice and text.
Set up the CERBURUS app for $5 to automatically text you it's location or some other monitored data ( noise level, light level, whatever).
Maybe this would bring peace of mind to a loved one or if you want to monitor your stored van-vehicle remotely, while you are out for a few weeks.
Just FYI for noting you can do this, assuming you have cell service available.
