Is anyone out there using a cellphone with a carrier that uses Verizon's network? There seems to be a bunch of them but most are names I don't recognize and there isn't a ton of information out there.

I don't need a lot of data, just 100 or so minutes and free or cheap texts with no contract. After my last experience with Verizon I'd rather not deal with them directly.

Many Straight Talk phones use the Verizon network. $45 a month unlimited everything (talk, text and web) for a smart phone. $30 a month for 1500 minutes and 1500 texts for a non smart phone. No contract and you can get them at Walmart or online at StraightTalk.com. They ask what area you use your phone most in and give you a choice of phones that will work. Here in the Poconos, Verizon network is about it.

Decodancer: I don't think the OP wants to spend that kind of money. Try Pageplus:
https://www.pagepluscellular.com/plans/
Note they have both monthly plans and pay as you go plans.
For a $12 monthly plan:
250 minutes
250 texts
10 MB data (and extra data at $.10/MB)
Or the $80 yearly plan (you need to buy this one from an independent dealer):
https://www.pagepluscellular.com/plans/80-standard-pin/
So 100 minutes would be $4 plus $.50 fixed fee a month. Add say 100 texts at $.05 each and you would be up to $9.50 a month. Data at $.10/MB

One big dealer is Kitty Wireless and they offer free activation and one month free of their $12 plan.

There is a ton on information out there. The forum I follow is Howard Forums:

I would be willing to spend a little more for unlimited data, but I'm concerned that they won't specify what network I'd be on. I'll be doing a lot of roaming around the country, which is why I wanted Verizon. My home address is in a city and everything works there.

I bought a Moto G and use the Verizon $45 monthly plan. Unlimited talk and text , 500mb on data. That's not near enough data so I also pay $20 for 3gig add on which lasts me for a month or two.
I had a dispute with Verizon a couple years ago and dropped them. Now I'm back but since I pay monthly by prepaid cards, I didn't have to sign a contact with them or have my name in their system. The monthly price is a tad high but they do have the best coverage in the West by far.

The phone you buy will determine the provider (ATT Or Verizon) because it won't work on the other system.

When you go on Straight Talk and put in a zip code it shows you all phones that work in the area. Some specify Verizon network. If you see a phone you like, go to Amazon and look at the reviews, that's how I found out which phones use which network. If you already have a phone, call straight talk (customer service reps are a challenge to understand) and ask which network it could be hooked up on. You may or may not get an answer LOL

Verizon offers some plans through Radio Shack that are prepaid and inexpensive. Millenicom resells verizon, but only have full plan with $$$.

I might be after DH to go to Millenicon, soon. It may not be as much of a battle as it once was. Bill messed up, again. They want $356. For what? We aren't trying to buy the company. Online bill is not itemized clearly and customer service line has been impossible to get thru on.

the 356 is for equipment....start up and first months bill......I use milinicom and it is worth it 2 me....I also use skype phone service thru it and for the money and the quality of service its great if your budget will handle the 90 a month.....20 gigs is alot of data!!

We are using tracfone riding on Verizon. It's working ok. Tried straight talk for internet only once and it was almost impossible to get decent customer service... that was in feb of this year.

Definitely check out Page Plus. They have really old, unimpressive phones, but they do run on Verizon's Prepaid network. It's possible to have a more up-to-date phone, such as an iPhone or a Samsung Galaxy, flashed to Page Plus via a service called Beigephone, but I tried that once and I wouldn't recommend it. Some things don't carry over with flashing. For me, my voicemail icon wouldn't work, and that was way more annoying than I thought it would be.

If my budget gets that tight, I'll give it a try. I'm online several hours a day usually but much of that is on free Wi-Fi. I did check it out. It's free with ads or small monthly if no ads. I didn't sign up yet but will keep it in mind. Thanx
