I know casinos are pretty open to campers, and generally allow for an overnight stay or two, which they usually have special lots for (RV's, pop-ups, trucks, etc.). But what about cars? As a car camper myself, based on your experience, do you'd think they'd allow/designate a car in their camper section? Or would I be relegated to their general parking garage?

And if I AM relegated to their general parking garage, I wonder if they'd still permit someone sleeping in their car for a night or two?

Has anyone actually seen other car campers when laying over at a casino, in the lots specifically meant for RV's and other such vehicles?

Rules are different at different casinos and for different people even then. Win enough they will probably comp you a room. I imagine they allow people that are too drunk to drive to sleep it off in their cars parked in their parking lot as well. Some have started charging so ask the casino you plan to stay at before planning a stay as well as any other questions you may have.

Only way to know is to ask. Every casino will be different. There are lots of casinos out there.

I will say that the few times I've casino-camped, it's been a paved parking lot. Were I you, I'd just say I was a tent camper, and ask whether I could stay in the overnight lot anyway, but you obviously can't pitch your tent.

BTW, I think everyone who car camps should make room to carry a small tent. Because if they say they have an unpaved lot for you to camp in, you can bust out your biggest grin, and say great! Then pitch your tent and sleep in your car... or your tent.

You're right, Jacques. I figured this out a few months ago, when I was pondering a Thousand Trails membership. Though, before haplessly plunking down my cash to become a member, I decided to do some research, first. Glad I did!

After calling a LOT of the campgrounds in their network in my zone, almost all of them emphatically said they don't allow car campers. Only 1 or 2 (for pity or whatever other reason) told me I'd be welcome to stay in any of their tents sites, but I'd obviously have to pitch a tent beside my vehicle...which I don't mind at all.

So I agree, an easy to open & close tent should be mandatory for car campers...especially those seeking to stay at campgrounds.

I think the main issue will be if they are not open 24/7 do you have a toilet with a holding tank in your camper? That is also the issue at some of the RV parks when it comes to tent or car camping. So that is why regular commercial RVs are OK but not always other types fd camping setups including tents.

If the camping area at a casino is a long ways from the building they might have experienced people defacating in the area then driving away. That behavior pretty much creates stricter rules everywhere those idiots go. You will get the fallout consequences from those types.

Just call ahead and ask about staying overnight in your vehicle.

I have stayed in several casino parking lots, just park on the outskirts of the lot and don't set up camp, just use the space to rest up.

Thanks for the tips everyone. Just to clarify my original question...

I was specifically asking whether a car camper would be allowed to stay in the RV-type designated lots many casinos have, versus the standard parking garages for regular vehicles.

I would obviously MUCH prefer to stay with fellow campers/nomads, instead of in a parking garage with the general public. But I can totally imagine pulling up to one of these camper lots, and then have the attendant/security person tell me I cannot stay there because I'm in a car...not an RV, pop-up, etc. It's certainly in the cards, which is why I posed the question.

You guys are right though, there's only one surefire way to find out...just ASK.

I spent the night at several casinos . The overnight parking areas were a mix of vehicle types. Big and little RVs, new and older ones, cars, vans, box trucks. These were all on Indian reservation lands. Some in the country areas and others within or on the edge of a town.

They all had one thing in common, good security, good staff and very clean facilities and grounds. You have to go inside and register. They wanted to see my ID and wanted the license plate number, make, model of tne vehicle for their security record. Perfectly understandable for security purposes. Only one of the casinos did not take that information. They just said go park in a certain area.

One tip about casino parking lot camping. Observe where the bright flashing signs/lights are and park away from them.
I will also gamble $10, use the restroom then sleep in the car. I have never registered to sleep in the car. It’s me sleeping, no lights on.

Now I’m in a camper van I feel like I would have to register.

I don't want to say which one, but a casino on the Oregon coast switched over to requiring a person wanting to stay in their RV to use their player card, buy in for at least $40, and play for about an hour. All this must be coordinated. The good thing is that they have a dedicated area away from the usual parking for overnighters.

Now for a cheap trick on them. They want you to play the slots. But don't do that. Go over to the Roulette table, buy in with $100. Get 100 Roulette table chips at $1 value. There is an inside the table layout bet called the double streets. Each double street has six numbers associated with it. There are six double streets. You place one $1 chip on any five of the double streets that you want. It's just a guess. Don't break magical.

You are now covering 30 of the possible 38 numbers available for any spin. You will win 30 out of 38 times or lose 8 times out of every 38 spins. When you lose you will lose 8 times 5 chips or 40 chips. You will win 30 chips. So you lose 10 chips in 38 spins. But Randomness never works as predicted by long term odds. That's why it is random, unpredictable.

Now for a simple Reading Randomness trick. There are three sets of dozens called the sections or dozens. Once in a while one of them goes to sleep. Really. I have seen the same single dozen go to sleep for more than 35 spins in a row. Two of your double streets bets fit inside each single section/dozen bet. Don't bet your double streets in any sleeping dozen until that dozen/section wakes back up. That changes the odds of you winning as long as you can find a sleeping dozen that continues.

Now you will more than likely break even instead of losing 10 units. You might even win a few bucks. Now for the best part. They made you use your player's card so that hour of play racked up a few card points. After several trips you might get enough for a free meal.

I have not had a bad experience staying at a casino, and recently did so twice over a couple of weeks.

Shower house is always clean and well appointed, laundry is inexpensive and a restaurant meal can be had at a reasonable price.

Personally,I'd be better off in a private campground. That free casino parking always ends up costing me a couple of hundred bucks.
