Like to get some information about traveling and visiting Canada. I have a current passport. Is that all I would need to get through customs? Any restrictions I should know about. Also, how long of a stay are you allowed? And finely what are some recommend attractions. Any info would be appreciated.

A current passport is all that you need. If you have a pet you'll need proof of vaccinations but I don't know exactly what that entails. Some food is restricted. It changes from time to time and at different crossings so the best thing is to not take very much fresh fruit ,vegetables and meat unless you're sure that it's okay. There are restrictions on firearms but I'm not sure what they are.

Canada is big. Where are you thinking of visiting? British Columbia is beautiful. The national parks along the western border of Alberta are fantastic. The southern parts Manitoba and Saskatchewan are mostly farmland so kind of boring. All of the Maritime Provinces are beautiful and interesting. Quebec has a lot of historic cities and French culture. I don't know much about Ontario.

Have fun!

Tony and Karen gave you a good low down.
Spot some Canada Plates on some Big Trucks and ask them the current food restrictions, that is simpler than calling around.

Yes, Canada is kinda big, where would you be coming in from? I have been all over Canada and can give you some ideas. Alternatively each province has their own website for tourism, with tons of things to see and do, as well as the Canadian Tourism Website, we like visitors here.

If you think the USA is high for gas pricing, wait till you cross the border! Most of the big chain stores have already invaded Canada so you will feel at home, higher prices though.
Cheers, tell us where your crossing from to get some info.

Passport is all that you need...
Typical questions on crossing are-
"where do you live?" Have a response that matches your passport and hopefully plates, because they will run your plates.

"where are you going?" Have at least one specific destination in mind

How long will you be in Canada?"

"any gifts, alcohol, tobacco, weapons, mace?" they are looking to avoid transport of salable amounts of tobacco/ alcohol. I don't know what the limits are. Firearms, large or "defensive" knives, mace, pepper spray are big no- no's.

"have you ever been arrested?"

If you are new to their system and especially driving a van/camper/MH they will look through your vehicle- there are "easy" crossing areas (those that have minimal drug/terrorist activity) and tougher ones.

Don't have anything to hide, and respond with polite respect for their job, and you will be fine.

It is a big and interesting country, I love the maritimes and quite a bit of the Quebec culture. Never been west of Ontario.

Enjoy.

What they said. Also, you might want to check out the Thompson/Okanagan region; beautiful country and TONS of free camping. ..Willy.
