I don't use an RV but just a van ... I've slept at WalMart stores all around the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex years back when I was living in a pickup truck for awhile, and never had an issue. These were all 24-hour stores.
These days, I sometimes sleep at Walmarts all over West Texas as well as the metroplex. I'm in a van. My MO is to sleep there, shop there, use the RR there, and that is all. Why would I want to cook (except for morning coffee) or camp at a Walmart when I can easily find parks or rest areas to lunch at or play musical instruments?
This is an area where I really agree with Bob's philosophy: Vans beat RVs like paper covers rock or rock breaks scissors. If you're stealthy, you'll have a little bit less to worry about when they crack down harder on assholes who are not discreet. Keep the stealth.
