The burners are creating some bad reputation by dumping tanks and trash at random places.  No respect for others.

They are causing problems for the rest of us,

That's anecdotal. The guy is assuming those people that dumped their tanks were burners. Truth is there are low-life's everywhere dumping their tanks.

I haven't washed my van or car in over a year. They're both pretty gritty. Believe it or not neither has ever been to Burning Man.

I would gladly pay more for Burning Man if it got me out of hearing/feeling range of the techno music.

The statement continued, “We actually had someone from the organization tell us that in paraphrase ‘it makes sense that you have been sabotaged as you are a closed camp and not welcoming.’”

But they defended their members-only attitude, claiming they offer “one of the most state of the art stages on the playa” as well as providing food for hundreds of festival goers who aren’t part of their group.

Now the question for next year....will they hire private security?  or 'be more inclusive'?

Or how about they won't be invited back next year because their exclusivity is against the radical inclusion that is supposed to be a part of what Burning Man is all about?

I thought it was on public land?  If so, they can just show up and set up their own camp again.

It requires a pre purchased ticket,  $390 each. 990 each, and 1,200 each.  Vehicle pass is $80 each, not available without a personal ticket.

They'll need a permit and porta potties. there will be more than 75 people in attendance

so a private party is charging admission to public lands?

I just don't understand the appeal of Burning Man.
Maybe I'm just too old to understand it.

I live in Northern California and see all kinds of ads on Craigslist for RV's, vans, and (for some reason) bicycles that are all like "great for burning man".
WTF does that even mean? Because I get the impression that it means the thing they're selling is a piece of junk and will likely only be usable until Burning Man is over, at which point it can be gotten rid of.

Like many of these annual events, BM might be interesting to experience once..... but not for $470! Too many of these events get totally out of hand and turn into a cashcow for whoever is organizing it. They become little more than a status symbol for those willing to foot the bill. Kinda like Disney.

It's all about that 2 lane road leading to the playa. The playa is huge and can handle an order of magnitude more burners, but the BLM put hard limits on the number of people and vehicles. That leads to vehicle fees and ever-increasing ticket prices. You'd think $1000 ticket prices would keep the numbers down but it doesn't seem to matter, they still come.

I think it was $350 the last time I went and for 10 days it was well worth it. It's not an experience you can get anywhere else at any price.

Like any pricey, exclusive place, most of those who can afford to attend Burning Man think its the hot sh!t, while the rest of us look at pics and shake our heads at those who throw away so much money.
