I guess I won't be watching more of his videos. Sorry, he seems like an honest enough guy when the camera's rollin'

His videos are very interesting. I have no idea why he hasn't responded. Maybe he's just super busy, maybe my email went in the spam bucket and he doesn't look at YT comments... I have no idea. But those are the only ways that I can see to get ahold of him, and I can't let this bus sit here for too long. Once we move out of it and move on, the owners of the secure lot it's in are going to want it gone.

I think I asked this already,

What exactly did the mechanic say is wrong with the engine?

Just saying the engine is bad and you need a new one doesn't cut it. At least it wouldn't with me.

Last post on the Bus Grease Monkey he was taking a time management course to try to handle the over 350 emails a day he was getting not to mention the YouTube comments. If you know someone that has a personal connection I would try them.. Good mechanics are hard to find, good mechanics that are willing to work for less than the going rate even harder, ones that will spend the time working on old buses knowing over half the bolts are rusted in and will break coming out near impossible to find. Good thing is they are mechanically simple and he is not only allowing you to help and learn, he is willing to pay you. I used to charge extra if someone wanted to help!

It's blowing oil almost as fast as you can put it in. It overheated on I-55 and shut down. Was able to restart it and it runs, but seems like we'll put as much oil in as diesel fuel, and at $20 a gallon, that gets pricey fast. No idea how much we may have damaged the engine running hot before it shut itself down.

Those are the symptoms, not the cause.

From what we've been told by several mechanics, the oil loss is blowby due to needing an overhaul. It's blowing past the rings and seals.

Thanks, that helps. Blowing past the rings pressurizes the crankcase (where the oils is) causing the oil to get blown past the seals that hold the oil in. Just trying to simplify it for you. Now someone that knows about those engines can speak more to the cure.

Exactly. When it shut down, I found the dipstick and surge tank cap had blown off. There was definitely high pressure in there. I think the engine can be repaired, but the labor is the killer. I'm not equipped to do such things myself.

yeah those screamin Jimmy's are pretty easy to rebuild as you don't have to actually pull the engine, you can rebuild it in place. Not sure why they are quoting you so much labor unless they don't really want to do it. Highdesertranger

He could easily go on the offensive by stating that "due to the overwhelming amount of support from my viewers and customers, I'm totally booked up for the foreseeable future and may not be able to answer individual emails and or comments on my YouTube channel. Thank you!"  -Bus Grease Monkey Dude

That pretty much took me less than 60 seconds to type and would save potential customers a lot of trouble

I hear you. I'm really disappointed I can't get a response, because he was kind of our last hope for the bus.

Oil or trans fluid?could be as simple as a trans line blown.easy fix.

Katt, where are you staying in Indiana and what’s the latest?
