Bring a car to the RTR?

I'm considering van life, being a nomads. I haven't started acquiring anything yet. Would it be a bad idea for me to just bring my car, 2008 Lexus ES 350, and car camp? I'd like to pick some people's brains about getting my own rig.

Absolutely not a bad idea. Many people come in cars for just your reasons. Bob will have porta-johns this year.

I camp in a Kia Soul, which I will be bringing to the RTR. There are some challenges with the small space, but overall I'm pretty happy with how it all works. Now, for the sake of full disclosure, I'm not a full timer. I live in a condo and vacation in the car.

One of the mantras on the forum is "use what you have".  No reason to spend money when you don't have to.  Hence the "cheap" in Cheap RV Living.      

[edited to add: you may want to test-camp in the car beforehand so you know what works, how you will sleep, store stuff, etc]

I've been attending the RTRs since the beginning in a car, first as a part-timer, now as a full-timer.  I agree with the Frater's suggestion that you take some test runs first.
