Boondocking In The California Desert

Greetings Everyone, My name is Bob and I am currently Boondocking in the Southern California High Desert. At the moment I am at Jawbone which is about 30 miles from Mojave, California. I have just left a spot deep in the desert about forty miles from my current location. I have everything needed to be completely mobile; solar, 3 deep cell batteries, laptop, 12V chiller to keep water cool and fresh, solar chargers for household batteries, a small generator for backup and coffee. I also have a tent that I usually set up and sleep in, it's much cooler than the motorhome. I have draped tarps over and around the tent to shield some of the desert heat, this helps greatly. I have chosen the desert because most will stay away from the desert in the summer, solitude is pretty much guaranteed. Hey there brother, welcome and thank you. I read your blog. I envy your solitude. I spent 5 years in kalifornia. I really miss the desert. Its very peacefull and you cant find a better place cor soul searching. I will follow your blog, I hope one day I can read your book.

Thank you for the welcome Marine Prepper, and thank you for reviewing my site. There is much more to my story of the desert which if the Lord gives me time I will share. We each travel our own road and the one my steps have traveled have been quite interesting. My walk with the Lord began as a child in the desert, and Lord willing it is where I will finish the race. Hello Casey, thanks for the welcome. It's still running around 99-101 degrees, should be dropping to high 80's mid 90's in a couple weeks. The heat wave a few weeks back was really bad and really long, I probably drank an extra gallon of water a day when it hit. Most of the time I'm right out in it walking the desert floor or climbing a new mountain. I was raised in the desert so I'm pretty much used to it. Not that it's ok, it's just the norm for me, so I just keep on keeping on. If my journey for the day is going to take until 3 PM or so I'll take my PUP Tent and camp over night out in the desert. This way I don't have to be out in the hottest part of the day trying to run back to camp. My family and friends used to wonder if I was crazy, now they pretty much know I am. Northern California! My family is in Modesto, and a few hundred relatives in Bakersfield. My last home was in San Andreas. Bob

Welcome Hermit reminds me of an old English tale A land/estate owner in the countryside would take his guests after lunch for a horseback ride on his "grand land" and stumble across a hermit living in a little house and proclaim "I had no Idea this man was living on my land" and let out a grand chuckle on this note the hermit would invite everyone into his tiny abode and serve crumpets/cake and tell long tales. disillusions or just Tomfoolery. anyway enjoy I love desert.

Welcome, Bob! I enjoyed reading (to date) your top blog article, titled; "Desert Hermits In California". I do I intent to read more from your blog, when time allows. Seems as though it may be interesting for someone like me (a Protestant Christian wondering when and where modern Christianity all went wrong). Your journey reminds me of John; "I'm a voice crying out in the desert". And I'm wondering if this (his life) has any meaning to your choice to life as you are living it now? Or maybe the vow of the Nazarite!? Will be looking forward to hearing more from you, Bob...... God Bless!

Good Morning Mock Turtle and thank you for the welcome. I call myself a hermit and to some degree it's true, however I'm not a true recluse hermit, otherwise I wouldn't be running around on the Internet. What I usually do is go out for a period of time for reflection, study and prayer, then I return to towns and share with others; similar to what I wrote about in my post "<a rel="nofollow" href="http://deserthermit.com/finally-back-in-the-desert/" target="_blank">Finally Back In The Desert</a>." Wagoneer, thanks so much for the welcome, nice to meet you. You're little story reminds me of an event that took place just a few weeks ago. I had gone deep into the desert, so deep off the beaten path that I figured not a soul would find me; I was wrong! All of a sudden there was a knock on my door, I opened up and there stood a young woman about 28 years old. She said hello, shall we read the Word of God? I grabbed my Bible and we shared for about two hours. You just never know when someone may pop in and you get to share your tales of the castaway, Bob

Ziggy Moon, Greetings In The Name of The Lord, thank you for the welcome. The current condition of the Protestant movement was absolutely predictable. No man can separate the children of God into several denominational groups which each teach different views on Doctrine, and expect to survive. The very purpose of Christ was to make us one, those who fight against this principal fight against God and such men will fail. Paul is very clear on this matter; 1Cor 1:10  Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. 1Cor 1:11  For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. 1Cor 1:12  Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. 1Cor 1:13  Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul? The word "division" in this text means "Sect." The word we use today for sect is denomination. All denominations are formed because of different opinions as to the carnal minds interpretation of scripture. If Paul were standing before us this day he would say it this way; To all of my brothers and sisters in all of the several denominations, how is it that you all do not speak the same things? Who has separated your minds that you would dare to fight against the very principal of unity in Christ? This is not the work of God, but of men who are not spiritually minded, but carnal. Some of you say, I am Baptist, others say, I am Four Square, others, I am Church of God, Assembly of God, and more. Is the Church several denominations? No! The Church is one, the Church is a spiritual house, one Church, one Bride. I would that these men who separate the sheep be once and for all cut off that the children of the Kingdom be one in Christ in this present time. Ziggy Moon, we must look much deeper than the current fruit we behold in the Church today, we must find and expose the very seed that has produced this corrupt fruit. That seed was corrupt, it has therefore produced this corrupt fruit that is facing death. A short look at history clearly exposes this seed. You mentioned my choice for this life, it goes way back to my Grandmother and Father and Mother. Dad and Mom and Grandmother raised us in the Desert. I watched my Father as he would go every day to the back of the property and pray, many times afterwards he would take at least one of the children with him as he journeyed to a place as directed by the Lord. One event where my Father took me stands out, he drove 120 miles to a large city and pulled over at a Park. He exited the vehicle and told me to walk beside him. As we walked through this Park two men were approaching carrying magazines. As they neared, at about ten feet in front of us, these two men dressed in suits, fell prostrate on the ground crying for God to forgive them. My Father then walked over to them and preached the Gospel to them, they were both Saved that day. After Dad spoke for some time to them, we got back in the vehicle and drove straight home. For many years I lived in cities and towns, now the Spirit has called me back to the desert of my roots. It is a time of preparation, after writing the book on the new man I will send it to all of the Churches in America first, afterwards I will travel to as many of these Churches as possible. Bob

Moby T, I hear what you're saying but it is proper for me to respond to those who ask me questions. My previous comment to you is dead on, had I made a comment that involved a topic other than righteousness there would have been no issue arise.
