Seems like most (all?) of the jobs at that web site for Cal Land Mgt either require a "couple" or "local resident". I don't have a problem with this, but Bob might have made mention of it in his video. Maybe this management company has changed their requirements since Bob worked for them.

As said, I think they should try and hire locals first. The recreation areas are usually in economically depressed areas with little employment - especially for young adults.

And I find that the hosts I've liked best were couples. A guy alone is more likely to be a beer swilling old fart that doesn't want any more to do with the job than that. A woman in the house seems to keep the guy in line and on the job. Not to mention two can do a better job than one.

Stereotyping?

There used to be a shortage of hosts.  I don't know if this still holds true.  If there is a shortage, I think they would take whatever they could get.  They posted what they wanted and ya know, you can't always get what you want.

it's also very late in the hiring season. probably the only positions left are the ones were the people hired didn't show up. highdesertranger

Recreational areas often (usually?) have a shortage of locals to work the peak seasons. That's why they recruit from out of the area.

I have found coolworks.com to be good.

I was an Operations Manager for CLM for 3 seasons. Campground hosting is a thankless job which leads to some turnover and shortages. The pay is minimal and the responsibilities can be daunting.

I'm the first car camper ever in Bryce Canyon. It took a lot of convincing, but now they know it can be done I might be able to hook you up with a job. Coolworks.com is the best!
