Guy,
I've never seen the 2-strokes run at Daytona, but I have seen the TZ750's run at Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI back in the 70's. A lot of trees at Road America so there is a lot of echo. I wish I  could have seen the bikes run on the beach at Daytona back in the 50's but I wasn't born yet.

I lived in Daytona in the early 70's, you could hear the track from my house.

Guy

I used to work at GE (1978-88) right across from the Daytona Speedway!  Many fond memories of Bike Week and Races. Wow, truly a small world.  I lived in Edgewater, went to New Smyrna Beach HS, then moved to Port Orange.  After the boys decided they wanted to live with their father I moved to Richmond, VA - talk shocker.  Uptight there at least in the late 80's.  Anyway, ultimately I'm heading back to NSB because my youngest (41) son is living there still and my oldest has passed away, so I'm really feeling the need to be more accessible. That's what makes doing this life style so perfect ... winter in fl and summer in nm (at least in my mind).  I'll stick around for a bike week or two tho. Memories!

It's good to connect to someone from Daytona in the 70's.

Small world indeed, I live in NSB and my folks lived in Edgewater for almost 30 years before they passed. My dad and brother and I all rode so we did Bike Week almost every year as well.

Loving living here, wish I could have made the move much sooner.

Every motorcycle enthusiast should experience Bike Week at least once. It can be anything from relatively quiet at the track, to total mayhem downtown on Main St. I prefer the track.

I'm from Daytona Beach. In fact, my youngest child was born at Halifax Medical Center in 1996. We lived beach side on South Coates (near Main Street) until 1998 when my late hubby accepted another job in Indiana so we moved there. So we have experienced quite a few Bike Weeks. After his death, my youngest child and I moved back to Daytona but it wasn't the same. I lost my job due to downsizing and couldn't get another one as the economy was very bad at that time so we moved to South Dakota in 2012 and have been here ever since.

I've never been to Daytona but i've been to Sturgis. One of my all time favorite trips.
Yeah, Sturgis is great. In fact, I have gone each year since moving to South Dakota. I run into old friends from Daytona there at Sturgis as well which is awesome. :D
