Hello Friends,

Not planning to be a van dweller but definitely a vagabond. Hurt my back in december, doc says I can't return to work, I'm 61yrs old, worked all my life, bored to tears then I find Bob's YouTube channel. Now I have a goal. To be on the road by next June 2018. When you have this much life under your belt it takes a bit to build a dream. No since in rushing. I'm gonna buy a Scamp, order is in, got a Tacoma to drag it. So much great information has been freely given I can't say Thank You enough.

Great plan, sorry about your back injury.  I searched for over 1 1/2 yrs for my van/camper.  Just got it two weeks ago and next day went on four day outing to meet some other people off this group.  It was a wonderful way to get my feet wet.  There is so much info out there, on this list and on Bob's You tube-all are a huge help.  Enjoy your planning stage and then enjoy your new life experiences!  Welcome!

Welcome to the CRVL Forums.   :)

I think you'll do just fine rigged up like that.   Something about travel appeals to many a man when he reaches his sixties.   Books like "Travels with Charlie" by John Steinbeck,  "Blue Highways" by William Least and other
writers, bloggers, and journalist describe how travel has influenced them in positive ways.

But the works of Steinbeck & Least occurred before the internet.  The resources of the internet make it much easier and more comfortable to travel today.   From Banking to Waste dumping you can find info on where to
go to do it within seconds on your Cell or Lap Top today.

I'd invite you to check out the lower link below to see a bunch of handy stuff on that subject.

All the best and happy travels!

Welcome to the forum MrBig

Last year I was given my walking papers, a cane and a placard to hang from my mirror. It was not too long after that I was on the road in my travel trailer. Luckily the site is cheap RV living because mine is about as cheap as it gets. That said I am out here having a blast, meeting like minded people and happily retired. I wish the same for you.

Welcome and hello from the great lakes state MrBig1. Sounds to me like you have a good plan. Tacoma's are a good reliable truck.

Top of the day to you sir and welcome to the forum. No what you mean, I 'm 64 retired at 62 due to health and omg is it boring as hell. I'm still holding out in the fact that I'll be able to talk the wife into doing this nomad thing and get out and see what's shakin' around the good ole' us of a.

Good luck to you, those scamps are great lil trailers, i only have  half ton F150 so I have to watch what I pull an/ or haul.

Welcome!  Scamp?  Good choice.  There are a couple of forums I can recommend if you're already aware of them:  https://www.scampowners.com/ and http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/ between the two of them, they seem to have everything covered.  Enjoy!

I'm totally lovin' on their 5th wheel model..... that would look dang good being towed behind my truck.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Yes, my wife has consented to go with me on this journey. She is my best friend and has put up with my shenanigans for 25yrs. She knows once I set my mind to something I'm all in. The Scamp is the 5th wheel, I want the trip to be enjoyable for her. I could make due with much much less. I feel blessed to have such a help mate. The truck is rated at 3500lbs trailer capacity with a 5700lb GVRW. the scamp should come in at 2900lbs. Cutting it close but do-able. I'll share info as the build progresses.
