Can we get a list of your top three YouTube video producers? That cover living in a van and stealth?

Wow no suggestions on this. Looks like I have to do my own research. lol.

Nomadic Fanatic has a lot of basic How To videos as well as a short (20min) documentary about vandwellers/full-time RVers.

The Long Long Honeymoon features a couple with an airstream and focuses mostly on their destinations.

Hitched Hike features a vlog about a young couple hiking the Appalachian trail, no RV/vandwelling stuff, but an interesting up-close look at living on the most popular thru-trail in the US.

Nomadic fanatic was ok in my book. Goofy but interesting. Then he started selling shit and begging for paypal scraps. Most of the other ones I've seen make my face hurt.

If you find someone intelligent that doesn't beg or hustle shirts and makes video let me know.

"I'm living a modest simple life. I have my world together. This is how you do it. Can I have a dollar?"

If I commission you. Then sure I will pay you. But you better be a good artist film video maker.

Too bad Nomadic Fanatic isn't a very good filmmaker, either. His Indiegogo campaigns are a joke with little to show for.

IMO, of course.

If you're looking for a lot of good channels, check out some of the RV channels instead--a lot of that applies to vandwelling, only in a larger place.

I'm trying to improve both quality and content on the videos I post. I'm still learning, but its a bit of a challenge having only a still camera that has video capability. I hope to afford a proper cam soon.

Frankly, I'd like to monetize, as many have done, but seems it pizzes people off when a guy tries to make a little something to help pay for equipment, like cam, tripod, broadband, etc. I don't have much income and a few extra dollars would really help with those things.
If I don't wanna see the ads I just click the little "X" and they go away, unlike this site, where the ads are constantly in your face flashing brightly ;)

What ads? Tapatalk shows no ads. Lol.

A lot of people ad vids with ads that are full-screen and they can't click out, and often times can't "skip" the ad. That makes it a lot more intrusive, and causes people to install AdBlockers.

But, the main goal is *you* doing the advertising. Once you feel your videos are up to par, start going around to forums and RV parks and start putting up your info. You are the always the biggest step toward your future. A thousand or two views won't make you much, but 100,000 a month will be livable.

I draw a very distinct line between monetization of content (insert free market speech) and asking for donations to support a choice. I watch your videos and they don't suck. They are good. i would watch you review a product or fix a tire or make a laptop stand any day. But if you ask me for a donation or play me a fool with some Web campaign fundraiser i won't watch your videos anymore. But I'd certainly suffer an ad or commercial or sponsored product of the week as part of the agreement between the creator and the consumer. When the agreement is betrayed with deception or the ethics do not hold with the content supported the contradiction just destroys any credibility from then on.

Teach the world to fish and all that.

Yes. If it was a quality product you believed in. And maybe you would keep and maintain trust, develop a loyal following, eventually partner up with a van dwelling video producer, maybe travel around and interview different people about different things, feature guest projects etc. It could be very cool.

I have no problem with Nomadic Fanatic's fundraising methods. He doesn't run pre-roll ads like many others with much higher views. Plus he's provided dozens of hours of entertainment and information for free. It seems unfair to say he can't ask for donations from those who choose to donate.

I don't wanna hook up with a producer...No matter how feeble my attempts, I want my own ideas and content. I don't mind being an amateur....I just wanna be a better amateur :)

Since our theme/motto is "Making Lemonade", as in, "When life hands you lemons", it would be cool to have a sponsor like Minute Maid. Shoot, I might even be willing to let them wrap the van with their logo for the right deal :)

And that's a very fair and good point of view. It's just one I draw a fundamental line on and it's when I stopped watching and put him aside. I give away far more than I keep and i don't trust anyone who asks for a donation of money. From jesus to the red cross to Cure Disease Y. And if I don't trust you i don't care what you do or how you do it. Prove me wrong and I'll gladly listen.

I just find it hypocritical to represent simplicity and self sufficient living with....not being self sufficient or simple. Selling an idolized version of yourself? Is that his motivation? Judgment aside is that what I'd like to become? Selling t shirts of myself and holding a sign on the corner of the internet? No.

I don't begrudge the fanatic for trying to make a buck. Everyone has to eat. But it's not where I'll put my bandwidth. He's got dedication, viewers, an entertaining spirit and good common sense. He has willing donors and best of luck to him. It's just not my bag.

I don't have a problem with him asking for donations, I have a problem with his Indiegogo campaign. Specifically, the second one--the one where he's asking for funding for a documentary, yet he said in one of his videos that it may not even get published because he doesn't know how to make it 60 minutes, which is the minimum for his sponsor. So basically, he pockets all the money. That's just bad business. (also, his current documentary is not even 20 minutes.)

yeah...I like Justin Credible's videos too

as for RV videos, here's a classic!!!...
