Got stranded today. Battery died. Pouring rain where I couldn't get out to get fresh air. Had to wait 4 hours for roadside assistance to show up. Very unpleasant.

What is the absolute best' jump-start battery pack' to buy? What do you use?

A great resource it is too. Sister site is SweetHome, and I think both just as good as part of NYT Inc as when they were independent.

Unfortunately, this happened in a non-converted vehicle without an extra or house battery.

This is what I use. Its a "Jump-N-Carry JNC660 1700 Peak Amp 12V Jump Starter".

https://www.amazon.com/Jump-N-Carry...8&qid=1507557284&sr=8-1&keywords=Jump+n+carry

Not sure how well those smaller types actually jump start bigger vehicles. Haven't heard great things about them, but if they work, they are quite small for storage. Had my Jump n Carry for a few years now, tow truck driver recommended it to me. Very happy with mine.

I have OEMTools.

They claim their biggest one starts an OTR diesel.

I just carry a second sealed blue top optima battery with short heavy attached cables in my towed vehicle. It can be stored in any position and holds a charge for months if not used, just hook it up to my motor home house batteries to recharge when plugged into the grid after each use.

The jumpstarters often include a flaslight, can be used to run/charge 5V USB devices, some also 19V for laptops, charge off shore power or a ciggie port.

Most important, fit in your pocket!

I think that is what the Road Assistance guy used. A little bulky compared to all those compact ones but it was effortless. Got the job done within seconds. Very impressive.

I successfully used a Gooloo 450 to jump start a fellow camper back in May and was happy to find that it worked great first time out. For around $50 you can't go wrong!
